Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Graphite Fury vs Vigor CS

Has anyone flown the Vigor CS and the Fury? When the Fury first came out, the talk was that for more than ~$300 less get the Fury instead of the Vigor CS. Now, from the posts it sounds like the new 80/90 Graphite Fury is going to be above $1000. So, do I wait for the Graphite 80/90 Fury or get a Vigor CS. I currently fly a standard Vigor. Does the CCPM make that much of a difference if I can't fly like the top pilots yet? I wanted to try the Fury but no one that I talk to has flown the Vigor CS as well. Also, does anyone have an idea of how much the Fury's are going to increase in price for the standard kits if any? I don't want to start a manufacturer battle. I just want to hear opinions from those that have flown both.

Graphite Fury

You don't need the graphite Fury frames. It was thought upon the original design that graphite frames would be needed for the larger motors, but the addition of the new lower support plate has eliminated that need. There are many pilots flying Furys with 80s and 91s in them and only 2 or 3 of them have the prototype graphite frames.
Do yourself a favor. Buy a G-10 Fury with the 80/90 gearing and spend the extra $250 on fuel. After all, nothing replaces stick time.

As for the Fury flight characteristics, where in Ohio are you located? I'm in Michigan, and if you briefly prove your flight skills on your machine, I will be happy to let you test drive my Fury.

Alex,

1. Talk to Ron Lund- he's flown both and will give you the straight skinny.

2. Take Kevan up on his offer; can't beat that kind of deal.

Either get a replacement or go to your local "Container Store" and ask fo rthe Nalgene square bottles. It's the 16 oz bottle. That's the original replacement and you'll pay like $2.50 fo rthe tank.

Haven't had a problem with that tank leaking at the cap. Have had problems with the steel fitting cutting the fuel hose, causing a leak.
not good. Replaced the stock fittings with 90 degree . works good so far.

Question for Alex

Where did you purchase the 90 degree nipple? I'm having the same problem with the tube getting damaged from the steel nipple.

Thanks

Alex, I'll be able to let you know in a week or so.
I currently fly a CCPM converted Vigor, and am in the
process of converting my Pro2K into a "Super Fury".

Having assembled the main frames on the Fury,
I can say the Vigor CCPM is still a little easier to put together.
Mine is belt drive, so I can't compare the driven tail setup.

I purchased my Vigor used from a friend, and spent
a few hours trying to free up the stock mixing lever setup.
After going over all the ball links, it was better but still
not as smooth as I'd like. Since I was really just looking for
an excuse to get the CCPM conversion, I went ahead.
I like it much better. I did have a chance to fly the stock machine
when my friend owned it, and it was not to my liking. He was
running the grey KSJ paddles, which was probably the source
of the twitchy feel I really dislike. I run it now with the black
M.A. 3D paddles, and 700 V-blades. If you go the CCPM
route, you'll find the swashplate level tool Gary Wright makes
to be of great value.

I agree with all the comments above: the carbon frames
are a useless expense on the Fury.

Please let me know if you find the name or number to the manufacture that makes the 90 degree nipple.

Thank!
