| This weekend my newly released "official" Thunder Tiger Raptor 50 kit
arrived! I picked it up from Cyberheli.com - all I can say is as always
Stephen provided excellent and FAST service along with an EXCELLENT price on the heli! For $379.99 you get the ARF Raptor 50 with 49BBs, TT 50 engine and pipe!
I got the kit version myself. Both the ARF and kit versions include as STOCK the following upgrades - which is why they are such an EXCELLENT value!
- Metal swash - This is the $50+ metal swash Thunder Tiger sells as a
upgrade, but it comes STOCK with the Raptor 50!
- Solid Raptor 60 tail rotor hub
- Raptor 60 tail rotor grips
- Aluminum boom supports with nylon ends
- Carbon fiber frame stiffener
- Larger 330CC fuel tank
Aside from the above upgrades, the rest of the heli is good ole' Raptor 30! Except of course that this 50 version has the longer boom, belt, blades, and different gear ratio.
Im sure a lot of guys are apprehensive about the TT 50 engine - I myself
might even be a little bit. But after taking a quick peak it looks very well
thought out - its a ringed engine, the head looks to be machined well for
good cooling, and the carb is designed like the updated version II for the 36 which ran so much better. Of course only actual running will tell - I pkan to use YS 20/20 fuel and an OS No. 8 plug. I will also be running the included muffler - its very nice like the upgrade 30 sized muffler TT sold for the Raptor 30. Another nice addition to the combo!
All in all, its a tremendous value! Even if they took the engine out of the
deal and sold it for the same price it'd still be a great value. For all
those guys wanting to move up to the more powerful and larger Raptor 50, this is the time! Order one from Cyberheli.com - their service and prices are excellent always! No need to worry about parts either - all of them are already availabe even in the US because they are those used in the already released 46/50 TT Conversion kit. I dont know when TT plans to release the Raptor 50 in the US, but my guess is itll be quite a bit more than what its available for now from Stephen.
Good luck guys, hope to get all the other upgrades I plan to install,
building and flying done in the next few weeks!
