Hello guys.
on the next machine ill be setting up with my Airtronics Stylus i have an in flight mixture control via an extra servo. would like to get some points on how to setup the stylus with the extra channel, maybe somehow on one of the rollers ?? this would be with the PCM 8ch Rx, and using the Heli CCPM extension card in the Tx.

thanks !

I did this last year on my machine with a 9z.
It was cool to be able to tweek the needle form the TX but really it was a waist of time. The only reason I did this was because I was running the os 91 from max power idle 2 to normal and the engine was really rich at a low rpm hover. I was practicing hoving manuvers and could not take the smoke. Then when I wanted to fly idle 2 I needled more fuel.
The end result was alot of baked plugs and to much waisted time on tweeken instead of flying.

There are several different ways you can do it.

1. Use one of the 4 VR (variable resistor) knobs or sliders and assign an aux channel to one of them for mixture adjust. Simply limit the aux channel of choice to the range of adjustment on the mix servo to suit the amount of travel you need for mixture.
2. Once you know how much range you need, if you don't want it to be continuously adjustable simply assign a switch to the aux channel you are using so that the mixture adjustment is automatic whenever you are in the flight mode you want to be in. You may use a conditional modifier to make it so that whatever mode you are in you can flip an additional switch to go from high to low and vice versa. You could go from rich to lean in either a FM or by itself.
3. Use a mix in combination with a switch so that a VR knobcould trim the mix channel.

i would like to do it like you have stated in option 1, please explain how do i assign a slider to an aux channel ? i didnt know that was possible, and not having the manual of the CCPM feature card proves itself.

thanks a lot for your help Terry. you give ATX users great support !

Select either Aux 7 or 8 on the RX and away you go.

Let me get this straight, are the 2 sliders on both sides of the Tx assigned automaticlly to ch7 and ch8 on the Rx ?

if thats the case, how do i assign one of the channels to one of the front sliders for example ? just wondering, since you mentioned i can have the choice out of the 4 VR knobs.
thanks.

Lior,

Please have the radio in front of you while I walk you through this. The default assignments are for the the two sliders on the side of the radio to be assigned to HP and LP trim. I always turn these functions off as I don't use them. I do use HVP and HVT only in the initial model setup.

There are 4 VR controls, labeled 9,10,11 & 12. 9 & 10 are what are usually HVP and HVT but can be reassigned. The other sliders are on the side and they are labeled 11 & 12 and they can be assigned as you see fit.

In the VR menu you have access to all 4 of the VR pots. Assign them as you see fit. and they will operate either Aux channels 7 or 8. A servo plugged into the RX will confirm this.

There will only be 2 free aux channels in a typical 8 channel RX scenario if you have a gyro on one of the aux channels and only 1 free channel if you are using a gov.

OK, i see the VR function, thanks a lot !

one more thing though, is this possible WITHOUT the feature card ? i dont have an Rx in front of me to check, but without the feature card AUX1 and AUX2 menus only include the low pitch and high pitch on\off functions, but maybe these (VR's) come pre programmed for aux1 and aux2 ?
thanks !

To be honest I don't know but you can try it and see if it will do inflight without the card.
