Hi all,

Well I was just wondering whats the difference between the 9T & the 10T pinion gear, currently I am flying with the 9T pinion gear,OS-46 & hatori muffler and its a pain to fly with inregards to the 46 tuning side I am thinking of urgrading the engine to the OS-50sx-h. Would it be better if I was flying with the 10T pinion gear, any ideas on the difference of the 2 gears. Oh BTW my ergo has the carbon fiber frames, from what I read in this month r/c modeler magazine the arthur John Benario said that the OS-50 is to much of an engine for the ergo-46 that he said the frames where cracking on the egine mount side where they bolt on.

Thanks/John

the difference is 1 tooth just kidding. The difference is the 9t pinion gives you a 9.78 gear ratio(assuming you have the 88 tooth main gear) which is fine for OS46. If you run the OS50 with this pinion it will overrev the engine, which is bad. This is why you have to use the 10t pinion whic gives you an 8.8 gear ratio. This will properly load the engine and you will get the maximum power out of it. I used to run my OS46 in my Ergo with the 9t gear, then when I bought the OS50 I immediately went to the 10t gear.

I have not had any problems with my frames since i went to the OS50. 4 gallons on it now.

Hi Lwnemesis,

LOL1 tooth

Thanks for the inputs on your experience w/the ergo-46.

I will go w/the OS-50 upgrade sometime soon,do you have an extra 10T lying around for sale or both(50 & the 10T).

Thanks/John

sorry no extras here buy the OS 50 from cyberheli.com the best price anywhere even if you add the shipping. The pinion is available separately from KSJ, good luck trying to get one. If you do get one, good luck trying to get the old pinion of the cluch bell. I destoyed mine, trying. I recommend getting the 10t pinion and cluch assembly from JR its not cheap but its the only other option i could find.

part number: JRP960199

good luck

P.S if you are going to go to OS 50 you need a bigger tank. OS50 sucks fuel like there is no tomorrow.
