For main/tail blades (KSJ, Koll, a razor, etc.)

For fans, hubs, clutch bell, etc. (Topflite, Dubro prop balancers, etc.)

I was looking at the Dubro or Topflite parts for balancing the rotor head, fan, etc. and would like some advice.

thx

Ok here we go..

For the head, main blades and anything on the heavy side use a dubro high-point balancer. For main balancer use the bubble balancer with the high point, very accurate! For engine fans, clutch bell, shoes and whole tail rotor assemblies use the top flight magnetic balancer, awesome accuracy!!

Isn't the high point made by robart? Anyway it's discontinued. It seemed that the Koll was most powerful, as it allowes you to do chord-wise CG as well.

Would you go with the topflite (magnetic) over the dubro? It's hard to get steel to bend, but it doesn't take much mass to throw a passive mag bearing out of whack - you don't have any problems balancing your head (or your heli's head ) on it?

Dubro is the same as the robart.

I don't think the Robart is selling anymore but the dubro is the same thing.I use the dubro for head and blades or anything with more weight than the magnets can handle but for small higher speed items i use top flight magnetic balancer. Most tail rotors have too much slop in it for cordwise so only do spanwise. If you pull on your tail blade holder and you get ANY movement even the smallest then it is too sloppy for cordwise.I bought that tripple bearing tail rotor by Quick and it is really tight but not enough either.I've used the topflight for model boat props too.Oh one other thing,It's too small for a full head and DO NOT DROP THE SPINDLE!!.
