JR Heli Vibe - Airskipper - Sylphide - Venture > Voyager 50IMZ construction question

I am currently building my V50IMZ, and have got to the stage where I install the servos. I realise on the throttle, tail, and forward CCPM servo the brass eyelets *cannot* be used, but on the left and right CCPM should they be installed ?

Cheers

I used the brass eyelets on my left and right CCPM servos. If you don't you will pinch the rubber grommets to tightly. I also used a washer on both sides of the screw to sandwich the eyelets and to keep them from scaring the carbon frame.

Thanks Rick

That is pretty much what I have done, but I wanted some confirmation

Another question

Are the JR ball-links supposed to fit a certain way round. I have spotted a diagram in the instructions which is pointing out a difference on the two sides of the plastic link, and I'm guessing that the side shown is supposed to be outwards. Does it really make a difference ? I already fitted some links before noticing this. I'm used to RocketCity links which you just fit either way.

Thanks in advance

Yes some JR links are directional. You will see JR Propo on the longer links, it is important that the writing is facing outwards away from the ball. Some links (the shorter ones) do not have the writing embossed on them and is called universal links. Either side can be used facing outwards with these. If you don't already have a JR ball link sizing tool it's a great compliment to the toolbox. I think JR links are excellent, very durable and will outwear the balls in most cases. If your use to rocket city # 77's you can still get them through Nelson Hobbies but I would not hesitate to use your JR links.

Just supposing I had already made the links before Ihad this information Would it *really* matter, or should I remake the links with new ones and make sure that they are the correct way round ?

I would just take the link off, twist the ends 180 degree so the lettering is facing in the correct direction. If you turn each end the same direction it will maintain same the length as before.

I can't really see what difference it makes. There is a very slight lip on the side with writing, but it doesn't look enough to do anything. it looks like it is just a way for JR to make sure their name is pointing outwards (in most cases). . For that matter, the small links also have the same lip on one side even though the do not have the writing - there is a piccie in the manual pointing this out too.

Re turning the links around
When the link is pressed on it opens up one side of the link slightly so turning the link around will result in both sides being opened up.

I have even got hold of an English V50 manual to see if that explains why, but it just tells you to make sure the name faces out !

I think to be safe I will just remake the links that are wrong with new ones, but I'd appreciate it if someone knows why they are sided and what actual difference it makes.

Thanks

I'm not sure for the reason but it must be in the design of the link. I know when the links get loose you can use you ball link pliers to squeeze the link and make it as tight as new again. You may want to ask this question on the (Ask the pro's forum).

New question about pitch

I finsished connecting up all my servos last night, and gave it a quick work out on the radio. I noticed I am pulling a *lot* of positive pitch and not very much negative. I didn't have time to look into it yet, but could it be I have used the wrong hole in the bottom of the main shaft ?
All my push rods are with 0.1mm of the specified lengths.
All my servos are set with neutral square to the pushrods.

I will look into it further tonight, but any suggestions in the mean time would be greatfully received

Cheers

I too remember something like that with my kit, I think moved the CCPM servo arms one spline.

Rick,

I tried moving the servo horns one spline, but that gave me +10 to -14 degrees. I decided to play with the lengths of the control rods that go from the swashplate up to the mixing arms. I shortened them by a few millimetres and now have +12 to -12 with 0 slap bang in the middle

I don't understand how the instructions can be so wrong though. My pitch range with the settings in the manual were +19 to -5. I know the IMZ engine is supposed to be good, but +19 !!!

I have fixed my servo lead. Now all I have left to do is to make a raised platform for the RX as I have attached my battery to the bottom of the radio tray with velcro straps by cutting slots in the radio tray.

Does anyone out there have a picture of their radio installation as it may be nice to compare ?

Cheers

I still think I moved the horns one spline and then readjusted the travel adjustment or the swash program to get what was needed. I would not worry about the instructions, just set it up as you would any other heli.
