To the Slug that Stole my (and my Grandsons-(3)) Complete Hornett II at the 2004 Heart of Ohio Rotor Challenge -Just pray I don't find you!

Taken from one of my tables by a piece of trash humanity, at the flyin, late in the day, a Hornett II with: GY 401 gyro (no case) Heat shrink on the wires by the board, MS coreless motor, MS RX, MS speed controller, Max Products servos (Orange), Bell Hiller upgrade, White autorotation upgrade, Tail mounted servo mounted on Carbon tail fin (partially doubbled up), Modified head, no canopy, missing one skid.
(Other positive identifiers when needed)
Stealing from me is as bad as it gets, until you steal from my children, you F@#King worm. Why don't you get a conscience and a life and ship it back where it belongs.
Reward - 400.00 to anyone but the scumbag thief(s) for info that finds the heli and the dirt bag(s) that stole it.

While im unlikely to be able to help you find your heli from where I am, I just wanted to say how sorry I am that this has happened to you and your grandson.

I always thought flyins were a sfae place where like minded enthusiasts came together and never imagine that some bastard would stoop so low as to do something like that.

I wish you luck in locating your gear and will keep an eye out online for you.

I'm always nervous stepping away from my helis at funflys, just too tempting. I acutally run a thin bicycle lock cable through my landing gear and tie them to the table. Paranoid perhaps, I just can't imagine coming back from the john finding one of my prize helis gone.

Sorry about your heli. You might go visit the local hobby shops and let them know in case someone walks in with it trying to buy the missing parts.

Pete,

I will keep a lookout here in Central Ohio for that BAS#$@D. I appreciate all your support in Urbana. I am the guy who thanked you for donating THE GREESER (which I won in the pilot raffle). It is generous hobby shops like you that make Fun-Fly's what they are. You have earned a customer for life

Keep up the GREAT work, Pete!!!

I can sympasize with you...Last year a guy by the name of Jeff Walker near Denver, CO convinced me to ship him 2 nexus helicopters( 1 RTF), all start-up gear, and a Futaba Super 8. I trusted him because we spoke on the phone for hours about helis. Well never got the money and the Denver Detective on the case visited the guys house and said he was a complete jerk who lived on the bad side of town. The only way to recover my loss would be to take him to small claims in the local court and / or prosecute him. Both of which would require me to fly from Ohio to Colorado for court. What loosers there are in this world. Now I consider it a gift to this SOB. It has taught me a valuable lesson.

Thanks,
Chris

Dang Pete - that sucks. We will also look at all the local haunts and try to locate it for you. I hope it was a spectator, and not another pilot. We have a swap meet coming up and will be sure to check it out.

Pete, sorry for your loss. I too believe a fun-fly is not a place someone could lose a heli. I hope the POS tries to sell it at a swap meet, the word is out and someone will turn him in. That or his buds see this thread and turn him in. What a creep!

.

I might not be very good, but I'm fun to watch.

Hi to All,

Thanks guys for all of your kind and supportive mesages. It really is apreciated.
Apologies to the Urbana club, I don't want anyone to get the impression for one second that I blame them in any way. It just happened there this time.
Awarness raising: making it tougher for the scumbags - I have had items ripped off at other funflys and swapmeets around the country over the years, 1000.00 worth of CF rod, engines, servos, batteries, PCM RX's, Transmitters, Govenors, Gyros, you name it, it's been stolen from us. This has happened to other vendors and individuals as well , selling and non selling. It used to be the worst at swapmeets, but the theives have discovered the fly-in and have found that it can be "easy pickins" because of the laid back atmosphere. Sue and I have caught a few red handed, from 9 years old, to the oldest being 79, some working in teams of 2 and 3, playing almost a shell game with the merchandise, even a father and son "team", with dad as the lookout, and the 9 year old kid doing the stealing. And believe me, if they are stealing from me, they are stealing from you when they get the chance, so be aware. These people are not modelers in any sense of the word, but most have portrayed themselves as "modelers".
There is a good chance that there is a theif or two visiting your event, wandering amongst you no matter where you live, willing to steal from the unsuspecting, easy going, trusting, helpful, REAL modelers. If you happen to see them "Lift" something or their activity seems suspicious, don't let them get away with it, don't be shy, don't feel embarrased, let someone know right away. Otherwise, the theives may be stealing your stuff next! (If it turns out to be a legit modeler, doing a legit activity, they will understand)

Again, thanks to all for your support, it did make the day a little better A few hundred eyes looking out for each other will make it that much harder for the slugs to get away with it.

Pete,Sue and Grandkids
See you at the next event!

Anything I can do?!!

Anything from A$$ kickin', Body Disposal, to some more cash for the reward, let me know. That sucks! Anyone who know Pete S. Knows he is one of the nicest most helpfull guys you'll ever meet. I figure I owe him something for his help and advice over the last couple of years. Hell, I'll kick in an extra $100 for information leading to the prosecution of the a-hole who stole Pete's heli.

P.S. Pete S. I'm sure will not even know who I am. I've seen him help so many people at funfly's etc. I'm just one of many I'm sure.
