Got to see the Actro 32-3 and LRK fly this weekend at the Reno FF on ekrippers ION's. I have the Actro on order and can't wait for it to show now, very impressive power. The LRK is a beast!!! That thing is big.

Thanks for bring them out Eric, and it was great to meet, you Mike and BigRagu.

Yes, it nice meeting all of you JonMann, BigRagu, Eric and Mike. Glad you guy came out. Here in Reno, I am the only guy that flies Electrics and only Electrics. Yes, the LRK is awesome, but I thing BigRagu idea of the actro 24-4 is a good motor to start. Sport flyer like my self don't need that much power, but I do like the reliabilty of the Actro, and hope my Hacker's bearing doesn't go out. I let Eric tested out my Batt pack and he put it to the Test. So Eric, did I pass your test?

Batteries

Thang,
Your batteries definetly passed the test on the Actro 32-3! Did not notice any voltage drop in 5 min. of hard flight and that was on a 3P pack so very impressive indeed!

Hey guys....looking forward to trying the 32-3 in the Ion as soon as the conversion parts get here!

Questions, if you don't mind? What is this mystery 3p pack?

Eric,

What kind of blades are you running? Is Reno at about the same altitude as Salt Lake City?

Reno is the same elevation as Salt Lake. I am running the MAH gen2 blades on both Ion's. 700's on the LRK setup and 690's on the Actro setup. I'll let Thang chime in on the batteries he let me use as I don't know much about them other than that they worked quite well.

Hey Eric,

Thanks for the info! So how does the LRK compare to the 32-3? What batteries do you normally prefer?

Eric will have a better answer but
I will tell you what I know
From what I know the LRK is a stump puller it will out do any Nitro 90 out there but it is hard on lipos, I think Eric get about a 5 min. flight and the lipo is done (way cool)

As for the 32-3 I think from what research Eric has done this is a good all around motor that has more power then the hacker setup How easier on the Lipos then the LRK

I hope Eric will chime in and correct me if I am wrong

Yes, I was very impressed with the LRK and I was with Eric, Mike and BigRagu. I fly local here in Reno, NV and we are at about 4500' altitude. As for batt packs anyone can reach me off-line. But, it is all about watts, but I do my calculation when I am matching batt pack with the ION. Watt per pound, or power to weight ratio. But, I do want to keep this thread on the motors. To choose a motor, ones must know how is it going to use. Eric is pushing the limit with his experiment and we need people to do this, and we can all benefit and improve e-power.
I am a novice flier so right now I am looking for long duration and so far the hacker setup with 55t is doing fine by me. I just hope the motor bearing doesn't goes out. I might switch to the Actro 32-3 or 24-4 when I build another ION, or repair my existing ION when its looses to gravity.

Motors

The LRK or more correctly the torqman motor is a bit more powerful than the 32-3. At hight elevation it is every bit a powerful as a 90 glow. At sea level I'm not sure. I will let you know after this weekend as were leaving for a funfly today in Oregon. The 32-3 is also quite powerful and I would guess the power to be that of a YS 80 here at elevation. Both packs are tough on batts. On the 8000's I fly 5 min. do an auto, check temps then let it sit for a min. or two. Then do another 5 min. So 10 min. isn't to bad with these big boys. The key is the break at the 5 min. mark. Batteries take around 7000 mah after this. Temps are peaking on the batteries at 130 or so and the controller is around 125 with the motors both settling in about 190 internally. I also fly both motors on the 6000 mah 3P Thunder Power packs and the 2P 5000 mah packs from Flight Power. Both packs can handle about 5 min. of flight and are around 140 at the end. This kind of abuse will definetly shorten their life span but the power to weight is alot of fun. When running these motors you really need to listen to the motor and just play it safe. You can hear when your digging in to the batteries and need to back off. Even though you have all this power you still need to manage collective for the batteries sake. I can easily pull 12 deg pitch with these motors but the batteries will just cry for mercy. I will let you guys know how the power compares at sea level after this weekend. Gotta go, gotta pack and get on the road. Later.

What seems to be the best gear ratio when running the 32-3 with 10s. I have a extreme thats begging for a conversion,
