Guys

Gary Wright are selling the setup tool gauge, so one can check whether there`s interaction on the cyclics.

Does the robbe system 88 have any interaction problems or not?

I`m asking because the guys are talking about changing the servo arms on the mille and nova. They say one must use the round ones and then drill new holes for the pushrod connections.

I can`t see how there can be interactions problems, cause every servo got it`s own function ect.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Regards

I've never seen interaction on my SE
and it flies soooooooo smoothly. I use
regular arms (well, heavy duty arms)

the important thing...

What is really important is to have the collective servo arm 90 degrees to the link. At zero pitch, the collective servo arm should be 90 degrees to the link that rocks the cyclic servo. Making the links 90 degrees to the cyclic servos will do little for you on the system 88.

Swash tool

Hi Guys,

I've done the swash tool and pushrod tool thing to my Milli II and can confirm that there was "some" interaction (more on that in in a sec).

I found the greatest improvement was from the push rod tool and using large round JR servo wheels. Once they were drilled perfectly at 90 degrees I cut away the excess wheel so the pushrods would not bind on them.

After flying with this mod the heli felt even more "locked in". For some reason I really noticed it in the hover. I had always heard how well the system 88 hovered but hadn't been too impressed up to this point. Now it's rock steady. Rolls and loops seemed a little cleaner (less falling off to the right in a loop) and the heli seemed to go (and stay) where I pointed it (confidence builder).

I then tried the swash tool and did find some interaction that was mixed out with between 3-6% mix. That is all it takes and seems to be a common amount for the Fury's too.

I have the mix on a switch and can't really say I've noticed a difference yet, but it's been windy as hell here lately and I'm waiting for a nice calm day to really check it out. I have noticed that a lazy right thumb has ALOT more to do with straight loops than any mod though. A little more expo might be in order ;-)

Are the tools worth it? The push rod tool definitley is...I haven't decided on the swash tool yet. Oh if you go to the big round wheels you will need to toss the servo arm straps and find a ball that will screw into the center of the elevator servo. I found the large ball form a JR servo support worked great.

My two cents (Canadian),

Blair,

I did the same thing to my Futura SE, and whilst I could see there was less interaction on the swashplate, I'm not sure how much difference it made.

Like you noted, I think it improved hover stability being more accurate and sensitive but I found loops weren't as clean?? Maybe I was just analysing it too much and maybe it now does it less than it used to.

FWIW, I drew up the whole linkage scheme and calculated the impact of the angles. On paper it should be better, but the horizontals need sorting also... this is not so easy on the Futura as really the pivot points of the servos need to be raised. I tried raising the ball links but wasn't happy with my solution so reverted to standard height.

Unless its my imagination the Millenium and Conquest have a straighter set up. Is this one of the reasons why it flies a bit sharper than the SE I wonder or is it all down to weight and distribution?
