I was reving up the motor when i hered a weird noise and on a close inspection i checked the inner gear (inside the main gear) that goes to the tail boom and it was badly wear unevenly but not compleately flat. I am getting ready to replace the part, but i am curious on to what this happend, the meshing look and heared OK, everything was just fine and everything listened very clean, and now i can't fly and just as i finished assembling it will have to tear appart lots of parts to finish it... Does someone has any pointers or hints on what to check and fix to prevent this from happening??? If the meshing did not sound bad, maybe the tail got stuck or something? Or WHAT??? I really need to fix this soon or i will explode

Thanks!

Sorry for the intrusion, but what is the "crown gear"?

Is there another name for it? It's not listed in the instructions.

First hover today with no weird noises or meshing problems... I am tremendosly happu with the kit right now ... I had some problems in the tail transmision the jammed some how and cause the crown gear to be eaten by the tail gear, fixed this and worked like a charm....

K-Lo I do not know if this is your first X-Cell, if it is.. The X-Cells helis requier a lot of atention in putting them together.
I have not have problems myself because I have had people checking my gears, clutch, etccc.
The tail needs to have a little play if you hold the head, try to move the tail back a for and it should be a little play, if not. The gears are to tie.
Hope this help.
I had a great time with my Ion in Reno (Fun Fly) . There were seven pilots with Ions. Two of them had a different Motor. One was the Actro and I do not remember the other one.

It is my first Xcel and i love it... Its incredible i love it BUT :

I hate the meshing in the gears.. Its too difficult without having someone arround to tell you how they should be.

I will pay a field rep of MA, to come down to Mexico and help me tune it Do you know of someone that wants to have a vacation in Monterrey Mexico (grate place) just a 1 30 minute flight from Dallas or Houston Texas.. I will take you flying to the best sites ever and i will have you take a look at my baby, the rest of the time is FUN time.

This heli is killing me to leave it just right and feel good about it without having the worry on the back of my head, you know the big question (Is this normal??)...

Any how, if you don't know of anyone, do you know of someone as a field rep around san antonio texas area i can go and see him?

You can go closer. Corpus Christi and Ron L. will be happy to help you and sell you another Ion. Just tell him that I send you. And he will be glad to help.
If I weren't marry I will be glad to go Monterrey. I have great memories from there. Good friend in Garcia Garza.
Enjoy your Ion. Mine is without batteries. One went bad and I send it to Thunder Power.

I was reading your post.
My 8000s went bad and also sent it back for replacement, MA said TP would replace it.
They charged me $50/pk for the new high density type.

Did they also charge you?
I paid it, but don't feel right, that I did.
Comments?

Gravity Works...no, the other left. ok,ok

I got the same deal. And it is not fare.. We paid $700.00 plus dollars for those batteries and 8 flys later . Adios, no mas, finish.
I have a friend that had the same problem, and in the fun fly in Sacramento, another friend had the same problem..

So who do we take it up with MA or TP?
Are there enough of us, which this happened to?
I realize its cutting edge tech, but is it right for us to pay for their mistakes twice...

By the way how are your new ones flying?
I have two sets, 8000s and 6000s, both dated in August, which are the new, new, new, Gen 2, high density, mil spec, etc, etc,etc....
After abt 10 cycles each, no more than 10 min flights, charging gently at no more than 4 amps, I have no problems yet.

Between the batteries and possible the Motor burning up, I feel like I'm walking aroung with a v-e-r-y expensive time bomb..

I got the batteries today . I will know how well they work after few weeks If they last. I hope I am wrong.
Other wise I have to a second home morgate for the Ion. :-)
Miniature does not have any business with the batteries. I know that Tim most be upset regarding all the problems that he has to deal for selling the Ion with motor, speed control and batteries.
I have had problems with the OS 46 and 50. And I don't go to Thunder Power. I think the same applies to Miniature. They are different companies that try to work together to please the client. If one does not deliver, we can not blame the other one.
