Beat YA

I already got it! BTW, you should look at Century's website under bargains. $209 for the combo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ONLY 1 LEFT as 6/13/2002 10:20 CST

Last time I checked it was $200 from the Hut and $17 for priority mail shipping.

Plus you do get the US Warranty with Century and the shipping is FREE! Not bad considering the price the overseas guys got.

Boomstrike, why are you going to buy the .46? The .50 is much better engine. I know there is a cost difference, but the .50 is worth it.

The .46 is not comparable to the .50.

OOPS!

I didn't read that listing on Century' site correctly. The price is $209 with a GY-401 & 9253 but it also comes with Century's tail servo mount setup!!

Lift Your Right!

I Took your Advice and ordered the GY401 from Heli-Worlds Bargains. It does come with the servo mount too! I am going to try the Hitech digitals for $54.00 a piece for the rest of the Servos from Servo City.

Zxyxx the reason for the 46 is for flight times. From what I read they are longer and I will still be fully capable of 3-D training.

OS 50

Boomstrike,
The fuel economy between the two from what I have heard is not that different. I would go ahead and get the 50 now and be done with it.

Not to mention the improved carburation on the 50 and reliablility. But, either way you will still be happy. I agree with Z though that you would be happier with the 50.

I am not sure that digitals are all they are made out to be. I have 8411s on all controls except throttle on my R60 and 9252s on all surfaces on the coming Falcon. To be honest when you compare them to a QUALITY coreless servo the benefits are not that great from my experience. But, maybe somebody can prove me wrong. With some technical reasoning.

If I were you I would forget the Hitec digis and get some Futaba 9202s or better yet some 9204s from Heli-Kraft. They have the BEST prices on Futaba servos on the web. But, they have been discouraged from advertisiing them. So, shoot John Wu an e-mail. They are good people. I got my 9252s from him for $75 each!! Shipping was $15.

I had heard you can use the muffler that comes with the hawkIV kit (the CN3033 as opposed to the upgrade CN3033A/B) with the .46 os engine. Is this not the case?

Thanks for the reply. I'll just order the proper muffler then and keep my 2nd 3033 as a spare for my 32.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Falcon

Lift,
The V2 comes with the constant tail drive but if you want two of them
Just one thing I did change was the pin on the starter shaft, the O.S.50
has so much compression the rolled pin snapped so I used a cut down hex key as a replacement 2 min fix . Other than that so far so good.

Start shaft...

I had the same problem with the rolled start shaft and the OS50. Since I don't have the tools to press the the broken rolled pin out, I just ordered a the "Hardened Start Shaft" from Heli-World. It costs the same as the rolled one (about $10) and had a hardened solid cross pin. Never has a problem since.

Falcon drive

Kevlar11,
The Century website says:

"Slipper clutch for driving tail rotor during autorotations."

I didn't see anything about a constant drive hub. Am I missing something? Or, does the kit come with the constant drive hub and the website need to be updated?

If it does come with it then this heli just keeps gettin betta.

Why I'm Going Cheap

Hey Lift! I'm still gonna try the OS 46. I know I'm taking a gamble here but that is what this heli is all about. OS claims that they fixed the carb on this model. We'll see! Gonna break it in carefully jon the bench, not something that I have typically done in the past, and take the break-in alittle longer than usual.
The Hitec's are also a gamble on my part. I've read the mixed reviews for these servos and some like em and some don't. I'll keep you's posted. For what it is worth I have been brought up on JR and I like them. However I have had three failures in the last year. Two throttle servos have stopped working: A JR517 and a JR 537. Both just went dead after hitting throttle hold during an auto. These failures may be due to high Frequency vibration that I had trouble finding but since cured. The other failure really was not a failure per say. It was a two year old 4131 that was used for collective and became sloppy at the top.
The servos on order now are two 5625's and one 5645 for the collective. All I believe are slightly above middle of the road as far as Hitec servos go. At $55 dollars each I will be saving almost $30.00 each. If they work out Great, if not, I won't do that again.
The Falcon SE VII itself as you put it is also a gamble. I am also tired of paying $150.00 to $200.00 every time my chopper goes down.
I am hoping(fingers crossed) that my gut feeling is right. That the quality of Cenury products is improving. If the Flacon works out, it will definitely be a steal of a deal. If they have it right, the public will definitely give them a second chance. Rick's RC Heli becoming a distributor most certainly is an Ace in the Hole!
