Vario Sky Fox - Benzin - Evolution - Xtreme > Big engines in Vario skyfox mechanics

Guys

Has anyone tried the big engines in the skyfox mechanics yet? I`m talking about a YS 80 or OS 91.

The reason I`m asking is that the skyfox mechanic`s gear ratio is standards 10:1, and If I`m going to use it in the carbon airwolf with 800mm blades then one can only run a headspeed between 1200 and 1300rpm. So it leaves you with a engine that must develope it`s max torque at about 13000rpm.

The other problem is that Vario`s clutch systems are designed for 8mm crankshafts, where the latest big engine`s cranks are 9.5mm.

Can anyone advise me on what to do concerning an engine, or what configuration to run? Vario tells me that the OS91 got too much vibration so they are still testing it. So I`m sitting with a problem as I got no engine set for the skyfox.

The YS motors do not fit as the box on the crank fouls on the gearbox. You can use a Webra 75AAR which develops 3.0hp. We have been using them with great success. Get the dual plug head and it runs really smooth on 5-15% nitro.

Over on the rotory.com page under Vario catagory someone has done it.
Here is a bit of it:
Hello all I had a Sky Fox awhile back with the 4 stroke in it but the twist was I was not running the OS 91 I was running a YS 91AC.
It only took a very little mod to the frames to get it in there and man was it smooth and tons of power. I had a huey body for it but it never got completed, I had to sell it all before I could finish it. If anyone has any questions about how I fit the YS 91 in the machine don't be shy I will help you. You will not be disappointed with the YS for power in the heli.

I would be interested in doing this conversion as I have a spare YS91 lying around .Unfortunately it has a OS style crank . I thought that there was an adaptor nut available to convert these to Heim style cranks?

I tried a OS91 in my SF EC135. Several guys in Germany tried on other models with SF mech too. All failed with this Engines.

Too heavy vibrations!

I think OS70 would be the best and the limit.
