Have a mille II with yamada YS80 with Zimmermann for 80-90 size.
When I fly (breaking in), the tank, side of the exhaust, is becoming very hot, so hot it expand and touch the exhaust.
This one is melting.
It has a really high pressure in it.
I have repaired the tank and put on a piece of carbon on the outside with high temperature silicon that seems to hold for now.
Its the eclips form thats coming out of the frame I am talking about.
Is there sombody with the same problem and what did you do to cure it??

Helicrasher, the tank on the newer Milli is thinner than it was first introduced, many people have had this same problem! Due to the pressure system of the YS and the thin tank wall many people went to the "long neck" version of the Hatori 2 piece muffler on their 61 engines that moves the muffler anout 10mm further out and away from the tank...I don't know of any muffler for the .80 that is a "long necked" design. I have seen several people simply replace the stock tank with a standard 16 oz. airplane type tank to get rid of the two thru-the-frame- bulges...this has the added benefit of keeping the heli cleaner, when oil residue gets between the frames and tank it's hard to get to and drips all over... although a little filing/Dremeling is required. It
moves the muffler out another 3/8" of an inch or

Don't know what the Zimmermann muffler looks like, but we had the same problem with our Mille's and YS80's with KSJ mufflers.

The quick fix was to cover a long thin cable tie with thin walled fuel tubing (e.g. aerotrend 1001 small clunk line tube) and wrap it around the muffler at the point of contact. This has worked well for the last couple gallons.
