I am ordering an ION tomorrow or so, i need to know which PINION gear should i order, and which blade sizes are best for it... I currently own 2 sets of 720's and 680's, but i want the best performance with the ION for hard, 3D flying... Any advice on which PINION gear should i order and which gear ratio or what options should i get?

Also i am getting 4 packs (2 sets) of the #124-160 8000mah battery packs.. is this the newest and best pack i should get or which one should i make sure i order?

THANKS!!
I am extreamly excited!!!

ION-X

K-Lo,
Please check out the following thread: http://www.helifreak.com/viewtopic.php?t=2628

What you will better understand after reading this is that the ION will take many different combinations, Batteries, Blades, Gears/Pinions & Motors . . .however it is a great machine STOCK right out of the box!

If you haven't been flying Large Eectrics (60-90 size) I would suggest you stick with the stock combination that Minair offers. After you get some time on the ION and think need more from the heli, Chris at Minair will hook-you-up!

As far as Blades are concerned and depending on you altitude and style of flying you need to get rid of the 720's and get yourself some 690's however plenty of folks like 700 - 710's. It just won't pull those 720's . . .

I prefer the MAH G2 690's. . .but we fly at 4600 feet (MSL) as I said read EKRIPPERS thread and you will see what a versitile machine this is and the many combinations you can try to tune it to match your style.

Blades

K-lo,
The 680's will be ideal for the Ion at most elevations. To long of blade on this heli will start to heat things up too much. Pick a set of 680's you like and have at it.

Eric K.

I started out on some MAH 690's Gen1s and BigRagu made me try some SAB 680 and I love them
I think ekripper is using Thunder Tiger blades and he realy like them
Hope that helps

Mr. Regiomontano.
Do not forget to order a power supply, and Orbit charger for the batteries. You can order another brand, but orbit is the best for this type of batteries. If money is no problem. Two Orbits charger.
I have an Ion with the Hacker and so far so good. I have few friends that have not been that lucky.

The Astro is fine. I like Orbit better. But is like taking about Ford and Chevy.
I hope you are ordering those Ions from my good friend Ron Lund, plus he is close to you.
Monterrey. .. No much. Just the Old town, Constitution Ave and Garza Garcia.
Lucky.. Read about the problems with the speed control getting fire. I have not had any problems with mine, and I know two that got fire.
I love the X-Cell helicopters, the speed control and motor is another issue. Just use the 55 t. gear. Fly 5 minutes at the time. and get one of the temperature gadget. Be careful when you get the 100 plus degree in your town. In North California we do not get that temperature and you wil be fine.
