If you say this is like a fury you're missing the point.
In my opinion the Fury also needs the same changes.
The Fury needs to get the engine higher closer to the CG

And why is that? What ever happen to 4 bolts to get the motor out? What evern happen to KISS? How long does it take to get the motor out of the Avant?

Quote
it also needs the tank away from the forward location and closer to the main shaft.

Is this what Hirobo wanted to achive with this Avant? I can't see it?

Quote
It needs more space between the frames for a larger diameter boom.

Not sure why. What's wrong with 3/4" boom" As long as you can fit the torque tube, why larger?

Quote
I think those Fury issues will be addressed with the Synergy. I can't say for sure until I see one but I know Jason is one hell of a designer.

Amazing how the helicopter manufacturer these days are focusing on making pretty looking helicopter but totally missing on simple design, lower parts count, easy to maintain costing us an arm and a leg to fix. Yet we applaud them.

Not sure what tack you are taking here ssphoenix, kinda confusing what you just wrote.

Augusto, What a great job! More competition in this industry will only make our toys better and cheaper!!!! I think the future of this hobby is very bright!!!! We're seeing alot of neat stuff coming out, I applaud the people who are taking the time to do this stuff!!!

And why is that?

The reason for that is pretty simple.
The difficulty for a heli to rotate in maneuvers that require rotational acceleration and deaceleration such as tictocs or start and stop of a roll or a flip is determined by the mass moment of inertia. The further out the mass you're trying to rotate from the center of rotation the more difficult it is for the heli to rotate back and forth.

As you can appreciate in the diagram the same 10 pounds are a lot more dificult to rotate when they are placed further away from the CG. In the case of an RC heli the engine is the largest concentration of mass so the closer it is to the center of rotation the less energy it will require to rotate hence less bogging and more energy available for the maneuver.

This is not a Hirobo product. Also the tank is closer to the main shaft than a forward locate fuel tank.

If going from a stacked frame to single frames is not lowering the parts count I don't know what is. About the price I don't know where do you get the idea that the Synergy or this are going to be expensive when price information for either one is not available.

Avant, gotta love that name.

Augusto,

The model in the picture looks ready to fly. Are you going to do a demo at IRCHA?

Yes that heli is flying that's why the landing gear has some dirt on it.
I'll try to do a few flights at IRCHA.

I also liked that name quite a bit. Here's the meaning of it:

avant

SYLLABICATION: a·vant

PRONUNCIATION: ävänt - Both ä are pronounced as the a in father.

NOUN: 1a. The foremost or leading position in a trend or movement. b. Those occupying a foremost position. c. The relative position of a group active in the invention and application of new techniques in a given field, especially in the arts.

ADJECTIVE: Of, relating to, or being part of an innovative group, especially one in the arts.

ETYMOLOGY: Middle English vandgard, before (from Latin abante; see advance).

Not often do we get surprises like this. With the WWW, it is difficult to keep things hush-hush.

More power to you Augusto! You made a good heli even better. I went thru hell to take the engine out of my x-spec. This upgrade kit is perfect for people wanting to improve the x-spec or freya. I would greatly consider one seing how I have to rebuild my x-spec after a radio problem caused a crash. I'm all for making it easier to work on and fly better.
Can one still use 690 blades with this since the shaft is shorter? Will this upgrade kit work with other CX items, ie. rx plate, base plate?

Is it somehow possible to still use the "old" style canopy? I just got a canopy painted by bill at AH and would really like to use it.

Paul,

Trust me it wasn't easy to keep it under wraps.

Keith,

We are still costing it so no idea of price yet but the plan is to make it affordable so that it makes sense to anyone.

SkyfoxSXer,

9.7 lbs with a trimmed plastic canopy which's how I've been flying it. The Fiberglass canopy should be a bit less than that. There are also some updated machined parts that will make it even lighter. I wasn't able to finish the machine that has those parts so I can't tell you the weight. There is also a lightweight carbon fiber landing gear option we are testing soon that is also lighter.

carcrasher,

It won't fit without trimming it quite a bit. It would be too large.

Augusto.
