For those who want to enjoy the advantages of a next generation 3D heli design CarbonXtreme will show a preview of the Avant line introducing a conversion kit designed to convert a heli into an optimized 3D next generation design.
Previewed at the event will be the Avant kit for the X-Spec and Freya.
avant
PRONUNCIATION: ävänt - Both ä are pronounced as the a in father.
Designed to take full advantage of a pure 3D design this kit converts the Freya or the X-Spec into a full carbon next generation non-stacked frame heli.
Features:
Designed to minimize weight and frontal drag area.
Full carbon non-stacked frames.
Ultra-rigid and ultra-light frame design with torsional stiffener members and sideplates.
Metal CCPM system with symetrical geometry
Fiberglass slim profile canopy
Compatible with both belt and torque tube systems.
Motor is located much higher and closer to the center of gravity to minimize the mass moment of inertia for faster rotational accelerations as in tic-toc maneuvers.
Tailboom located below main gear allows for the main shaft to be shorter and lighter. It also helps minimize the posibility of boomstrike when using soft dampeners.
Shorter MainShaft and higher engine puts the CG closer to the main blades making inverted maneuvers much easier and stable.
Super-rigid and super light motor mount
Access to engine for mounting and dismounting simplified and unclutered.
Access to the tank for removal and installation is simplified
Front mounted Rudder servo.
Open tail fin design to minimize vertical fin side area.
All parts needed to convert an X-Spec to an Avant version are included in the kit.
Torsional stiffener members for clutch sideplates.
Full metal CCPM system
Push Pull on all CCPM arms.
Easy access to engine and to fan shroud.
Super lightweight CNC machined engine mount
Stainless steel threaded inserts for servo mounting and front mounted Rudder servo.
Removal and installation of the tank is very simple. Visibility of the fuel level is also improved.
All radio gear is located in the front so no wiring to the back is needed including the Rudder Servo. It also helps with the CG
Easy access to the engine backplate. Also notice that the bottom plate is attached to the motor mount preventing the engine torque from being transmitted directly and only to the frames.
Metal outer case of the swashplate is supplied so the plastic one can easily be replaced by the CCPM metal one.
AFter scoring the plastic with the Dremel disc you can pry it open with a flathead screwdriver until it breaks off.
With that you now have a FULL METAL CCPM swashplate from a STD plastic one.
Slim canopy design
Windshield outline can be painted like the original Freya or changed it if you wish.
Kits will be available in a few weeks. Price has not been determined yet.

Congratulations Augusto and all invloved,
There are many superb bits of lateral thinking in this conversion and great attention to detail throughout!
And Yes the Raptor 90 is crying out for this sort of conversion!

Hirobo FuryThat`s what i though too, it`s a fury with a hirobo name.Wonder what Jeff Green`s thoughs are this? Is Todd Bennett going to fly it too since he`s familier with both?

OHH YEAH BABYNice Augusto.
Is that a carbon hex boom too?
Change is good!

it's no more a Fury than it is a Hirobo Futura
(sans the belt drive )
It's not like MA did anything super-unique
in the Fury design.
It's not even similar to a Fury, I can't see crappy tail gears from 1980 and a 19mm boom there

I `ll bet it`s more than the $850. target range that most are shooting for or it will sit on the shelf like a Vigor.

If you say this is like a fury you're missing the point.
In my opinion the Fury also needs the same changes.
The Fury needs to get the engine higher closer to the CG to minimize the mass moment of inertia. It also needs the tank away from the forward location and closer to the main shaft so that the CG doesn't change as much from when the tank is full to when the tank is empty. It needs more space between the frames for a larger diameter boom that allows it to make it lighter and stiffer.

Hence the Spectra. The design is great, I'm glad that there are other people out there that have noticed why the fury flies so much better than other helicopters.
