Hi all, I have come across an old Schluter Bell 222 lexan body. It looks like my Hawk III will fit in it quite well. Is it worth me trying to put it together? The main body is in 4 parts and has to be joined. How is this done? I have never worked with lexan and don't have a clue. It has no directions just the box and the lexan parts.
Could you give me some advice.
Thanks.........

hey dude!!! i had an old schluter jet ranger that had a fiberglass rear section and a lexan front section. i used pfn or zappa dappa gue. it is a clear sillicon like glue that works very well. i think the pfn is most popular in the scale heli comuniity though, either way they both work well on lexan as well as fiberglass.
i would trim everything to get fitted, paint it on the inside (at least the base color) then glue together. also those areas that are subjected to a lot of stress i would fiberglass for reinforcement.
well i hope all this helps

Go to your local automotive or hardware and get a tube of GOOP. It doesn't matter if it's for home use, automotive use, marine use, whatever-just get the GOOP and use it to join the edges. Geez, I haven't seen one of those bodies in like, forever.
GOOP will be pretty much cured in half an hour, but you can still carefully peel it apart-slowly-if you make a mistake. Post a pic here of your project when it's done, would you? I bet most of the folks who hang out in here have never seen one of these bodies-they go way back.

I will post some pics of it but it will probably be a while before I get to it. I think this will be a winter project for me while there is snow on the ground. There is also that whole learning to fly thing I have to get down yet. Had to take some time off and will have to start all over again.
Thanks for the info.
