Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > 94322 servo doesn't return - needs replacing?

I have it on the elevator rod.
The swashplate is level to start with.

I push the stick forward all the way and return to center, the swashplate is not level.

I pull the stick back all the way and return to center, the swashplate is level again...

Going forward and then center will never level the swashplate.

Going back and then center always levels the swashplate.

The servo also buzzes....

It does not bind in either direction.

I bought it as part of a used set Airtronics RD6000 super set. Everything is in fine condition, and the price was great, I didn't get ripped of or anything, I think this falls under normal wear/tear if it is the servo and want to know if this is a telltale sign of a servo needing replacement.

Thanks for your input.

One thing you'll find on the Century ships is some bad engineering. The elevator set-up is an absolute travesty. Before you blame the servo, make sure you are not getting any binding in the ball link at the servo end through out the range of travel. I had to grind some of the case off one of my servos to keep the link from binding against the servo when you pull back elevator. Also, if the heli is new check that your ball links are not tight on the balls. You should be able to twist the link easily between your thumb and forefinger. Better yet, dis-connect one end. Hold it up and let it go. It should fall pretty easily. If not, gently sqeeze the link while it is attached to the ball with a pair of pliers and try again. If its still tight, sqeeze it again. You may need to add a little more pressure. GO CAREFULLY. Ten small sqeezes is better that one bad one that will ruin the link. You may want to go through the ship and do all the links this way. Generally new ships have the links too tight which causes binding and stiff movement.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Thanks for the info. Nothing is binding and the balls are pretty slick.
No need to hack up the gyro case
I had no problems with my previous HawkIV - and it is odd that this one servo buzzes and the others don't.

I'll check your suggestions again though, thanks!

Is there a hobbyshop or any friends nearby that would let you try their servo? If theirs worked and the swashplate was level that would mean yours is dead.

I have an extra servo I can try but it's crappier (non BB). I certainly can try that.

Mike : I was wrong - the elevator ball link is stiff. I'll try sizing it tomorrow and see if it helps. Thanks
