Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Futaba 8U vs 9Z

I'm thinking of replacing my Futaba 8U transmitter with a new 9Z, but I am not sure if I would really see any big difference in flying. The 9Z certainly looks a lot sexier, but I generally don't look at my transmitter a whole lot while flying. Has anyone owned both radios? The 9Z certainly has alot more setup features, but I'm not sure if I would really get much use out of them. I currently use no mixers, my curves are straight lines or V's with a GV-1 running. I've heard that the 9Z might handle CCPM more accurately. Is there any noticable difference while flying?

steven,

I suggest you do a search for both the 9Z and 8U useing the search function above. There is a TON of info posted about both radios, because the "this radio" vs. "that radio" thing gets discussed here ad nauseum about once every two weeks or so.

Read through the already posted threads and if you still have a question post it and we'll help you out.

BTW: I'm not trying to be a prick by intentionally evading your question. Remember, search first, ask questions later!

Stepehn,
I've just got myself a 9ZWCII after flying the Super 8 for a couple of years.
I thought like you (what would I use all the extra features for?), but believe me, once you get the 9Z and understand it a little bit you soon find uses for all those features!

Just get it, it'll be one of the best investments you'll make.

8U & 9Z

I, like Si, flew a 8U for a while, both planks and helis. Got the 9Z WCII at the first of this year and after a week or so of programming trama, its great. The most difficult thing for me was to forget all of the 8U programming--- the 9Z is different. Its a bit difficult to understand what "unlimited" programming means until you try it. Some people don't like the Z because its total flexability makes you have to decide how you want the 'copter-- not how some engineer has decided for you.
It took me about 3 months to become proficient at programming , but after learning , its the best for me.
