e-Miniature Aircraft Furion - Razor - Ion-X > Bad top bearing...

I have about 20 flights on my Ionx. Today, I notice it does not sound as smooth as it used to be, I landed and found the top bearing in the hacker motor was broken, a lot of play on the shalf. Teeth on my 54T secondary gear are a little bit sharp as the result.

Will Minair and hacker replace these defective parts under warranty? Whom should I contact for the replacement?

Thanks

Hi Dinh,
That is too bad on the ION-X, but spinning at around 40K rpm the Hacker should be fine. But sometime you will get a bad bearing. I had the same thing happen on a C50-13L and I will definitely keeping an eye out on my ION-X. What I did was contacted Hacker first, but since we got the ION-X with the motor kit then we have to go thru MA first. I would call MA first. Good luck on getting it repair and let me know how it turn out. You are the second person that I know that have the bearing went out on the motor.

Dinh,

You will have to send your motor in to Aeromodel to have the motor fixed under warranty. Go the their website and fill out the repair form and send it in with the motor. They will then contact you and let you know if it will be replaced under warranty. I sent one in a couple of weeks ago and they are going to replace the motor and controller under warranty. I am still waiting as they are out of stock on these so you may be in the same situation. Hope this helps.

I wonder if it wouldn't be easier and less of a hassle to just replace the bearing yourself (assuming there's no internal damage)? Maybe use some ceramic bearings?

Guys,

Mine was the same. It blew a magnet off the shaft mid flight.

I was inverted at 10 feet when flames started licking out the back.

Bye bye controller.

:

Thats 2 motors that I know of that have blown.

Stu, you would be the third, and I hope mine will hold together. But, I have not doing any 3D yet. Strong climb-out and FFF.
