cal 30

Well Ihave a few more flights on mine and it is performing very well. However I am wondering if any body is having trouble with hydrolic lock on their heli. Mine is weber 36 equipted with a weston pipe. The pipe is slanted upwards and im sure that all that oil and unburned fuel runs back into the cylinder after each flight. I have to turn the piston until it clears the exhaust port and dump the junk before each flight. Im sure that if I put a different pipe on it it would solve the problem but I do like the way it runs and sounds with the present equipment.

Is anybody using the 8uhps for their caliber 30? If so can you tell me how you set it up? I just bought the radio and really dont know how to use it, I have a t6xhs on my nexus and the radios are worlds apart.

I set up my 3810 as the Caliber30 manual showed CCPM settings etc. (-65%, -65%, 65%) or if its the opposite. Dual rate at 70 (ail, elev)
All servos connected as shown.

Can someone tell me their experience with the Webra 35 engine on the Caliber as opposed to the OS 32?

I am thinking of buying a Webra based Calber 30 and was curious as to the performance/durability of the Webra engine.

Thx.

webra35 or however you spell it.

I have a cal.30 with the weber 35 in it. The one with the red head. Im partial to redheads anyway. It flies great. Its not broke in yet but it has power to spare now and after a gallon or so of fuel it ought to scream. Get it and fly the heck out of it.

Thanks funder. I will probably get the "redhead". My two other helis are a Fury Extreme with the YS 80 and a Nexus with the OS 32.

While I have flown the heck out of the Nexus, the Fury is still new and has only been hovered around for engine break in thus far.

Readheads

Sharam One thing you will notice right away is that the caliber is no nexus. While I still own two nexi and fly them when I can the caliber is head and sholders above the nexus. I am useing my nexi to learn nose in and stay uptodate on that part of heli flying. If I have to repair something let it be my nexus that I have a ton of parts built up over the years for.

Thanks funder. I think I will go ahead and buy it. My Nexus has developed a lot of slop and I am looking forward to having a 30 size bird that is stable and flies as if its on rails.

Caliber setup

I have my caliber 30 sort of setup. I am using a 8uhps tx, and s3001 servos, and a gy240 gyro. It has a shake in it but I think that is due to the tracking that still needs to be adjusted. The other problem i am having is that it drifts to the left when hovering tail in, and I cant seem to correct it, any ideas on how to correct this? I have only had it a couple inches off the ground. I also own a nexus 30 that I can hover well, but have not moved into other stages yet.

I am not that familiar with the 240 - I use the 401 and the 601. I am thinking that they must be similar.

Make sure revo mixing on the 8UHPS is turned off. You should first get rid of the drift by the following mechanical adjustments. Turn off the AVCS function. Pop out the ball link and either lengthen or shorten the pushrod by screwing the link in or out, depending on what action is necessary to stop the drift. Try to hover again. If the drift is now minor, use the Xmitter trim to stop it.

Also, make sure your engine is running smoothly. Engine rev changes will have an adverse effect on gyro performance.

The right sequence for power up is to turn on the Xmitter first, then the receiver.

Hope it works.

To make a clarification it is not the tail that is drifting it holds real solid, it is the whole helicopter. I know it will drift some because of ground effect and all of that but it does not seem to correct very well, and my pitch is real sensitive, and drop in the stick makes it fall quickly.
Thanks,
Bill

Trim

Bill It trims just like an airplane. If its drifting to the left trim in some right aileron. The best way I have found to trim a heli is to slowly raise throttle and pitch until the heli just leaves the ground. If it moves one way trim it the other way until it stops. Doesn,t take long and works fine. Also with that 240 gyro dont use hh mode to learn on. Or at least thats my belief. Some think the other way but I learned to control the tail from the begaining and never fly with hh anymore.

I will have to say that it is a very easy helicopter to set up. I cant wait to get some flight time with it. Now I just have to fine tune everything and get the tracking right and I should be all set to go. It should be a nice step up from my nexus, which I still plan on flying.

I would recomend the caliber 30 to anyone. It is easy to put togehter and it is a great flyier, and setup was a breeze. I think you get the most for your money with the caliber. I can not compare it to the raptor becuase I have never touched one and never well.
