Any tips before I try them? Are they much different from inside loops?

Hi Volare, yea you could say they are a bit diff. The timing is harder to get just right, a outside flip flop is easier than a nice outside loop least for me. Its a cool manouver, while in idleup and at about full throttle push full down or just about , hold it until the heli is totally inverted then start adding neg pitch while all the time holding down the ele cyclic, as the heli reaches upright start adding pos pitch again as well as forward cyclic, like I said its all in the timing tho, flips are cool too and a bit easier. Just be sure the eng is running strong in inverted and you have plenty of neg pitch if needed.

Not much different, but they do seem to "go big" easily upping your heart rate pretty fast. So...what I've done is to start high, dive down to get some steam, push a nice loop and at the top, put some extra positive to make the loop shallow. Then, as you get the feel, you can smooth them out a bit. Does that make sense to you as I described it?

neg loop

Be careful doing neg manuvers esp. with a raptor. I have seen two go into many pieces doing neg.loops. Inflight boom strikes are spectacular.

Hmmm...that does sound right. Blades can deflect more since they're not swinging as fast; soft damper lets the whole grip/feathering shaft move, outside loop is negative pitch AND pushing the nose "down" (tail up) so too much damper flex will let the blades strike.

I have honestly never figured out why I should worry that I lube my new feathering shafts with vasoline. I've read that it will break down the dampers but I just rolled my eyes...until now, anyway.

Thanks,
Tom

IMO a swashplate with exessive deflection may be a culprit. The swashplate does not require as much cyclic movement as I have seen on some heli setups.
