Blades, Night Flying and Painting > SAB carbon fiber

My flying buddy and I were trying out our new SAB's last weekend. I never had a problem with rolling autos using the regular fiberglass blades, well except for my fingers. Anyways, both ours helis did really nasty dives after rolling to knife edge. Couldn't get enough bite to get to inverted and have enough blade speed left to finish the auto. Good thing we were up high enough to take off the throttle hold! Anyone else see this phenomenon? We think it has to do with the airfoil profile. His were 600mm on a raptor50 and I have 680mm on a Freya60.

I've found the Carbon 600s and 680s auto better for me than the fiberglass ones. Granted I didn't try a set of FG ones that were the same weights as the carbon.

I personnaly swear by the carbon SABs. I guess some others swear at them. hehehe

This will be a good topic if we get additional imput.

I just got my set of SAB's from Rons and saw that the profile was very interesting. How the blade narrows at the back in a tear-drop shape.

I was very happy to see the SABs were only 100g. I have used CMT blades and they were great, but at 120g the CMTs were very heavy.

The last couple of sets I used were NHP. I had the 75g 3D blades and then the 98g razor pro blades. I did love the NHPs. They were just so expensive with my recent bout with crashes (two sets of NHP and a set of woods).

So, to cary on with the topic. How do the SAB blades behave. Good lift?? Good inverted?? Roll response (crisp like carbon NHP, or sluggish like wood stock blades)??

Thanks Guys.

My personal favorite for the R30 is the SAB carbon 3D. Their a tad pitchy inverted. Barely noticeable though. They backward auto very nicely for a 30 ship.

At one time or another I've used all the above blades. Mostly on Xcell 60's. Furys,SE's and Pro's.

My favorites for 60 ships are as follows;
TG,SAB,Curtis,CMT,Razor and MS. In that order.

I was very excited to see Cyberheli selling the TG 550's for the R30. I'll have to order a set and try them on for size.
