The Futaba radio gear is all designed to go together, but will work when mixed with other brands.
The GY setting gives you from 100 to 0 for Normal and then from 0 to 100 for AFCS (Heading Hold Mode).
The STD setting gives you only from 0 to 100 with 50 being the cuttoff point between the Normal and heading hold mode.

It will send the same signals to the gyro, but if you are using a GY brand of Gyro then the larger range will be easier to tell what sensitivity setting you are sending to the gyro
. For instance - if you have it set to GY the 75% setting in AFCS mode will be the same as having the STD mode set to 75% of 50 to 100 which would be like 87.5 if you could get to it. or the number 87 would be 75% gain. Hopefully you understand how I've explained it. If not let me know and I'll try to expand on it a bit.

Jon sends..

X809,
Just a suggestion -- you might find it worthwhile to buy the US 9C manual to help you better understand your radio, as it seems you're finding the japanese version frustrating.

Raymond,
I'd be happy to refer customers to a download copy of the **US** 9C manual, if you can point me to one. I've not found one anywhere, and at this point our staffs don't have one in PDF format available to post.

Remember, this is the US manual, not the Japanese.

Raymond/X9,

The manual you have downloaded is the Futaba Japan manual in English. It is not the US customer manual, which was written by us here in the service facility and is designed to be significantly more complete, detailed, and hopefully user friendly. We worked VERY hard to give our customers something more in addition to the stock information, with lots of examples, references to other features you'll likely want to try next, etc.

X9, I suggested it to you because it covers most of the questions you've asked here and very possibly many you've not thought about asking.
