HIROBO Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > another ? for Freya owners

I have both a Freya and A Sceadu .50. We flew our Freya's here all summer with YS motors ( 61 and 80) without any issues. The YS motors have some of the smallest cooling heads in the business. Never an overheating problem. And we were flying in temps well above 100 degrees. I have yet to have any overheating issue with my .50 in the Sceadu and we have had temps close to 90. And as far as the cooling shroud not extending all the way over the motor, neither does the Raptors. Just make sure that you have the needles set properly.

Thanks for the info beedub. All I had to go on was the posting, and a write up in MHT that a fellow flier showed me. He flies a raptor and will have to point out to him that his shroud is the same way. Thanks again.

I flew a Freya/YS61 all season up here in New England w/o any
overheating problems whatsoever. Ditto on Raptor/OS32.

I think in most cases, it's a case of mis-set needles causing the
problem. Unless you live in a sauna, or Texas

I haven't heard of any overheating on the Freya and my Sceadu has yet to give me issues about overheating, I think most people can't set their needles right.

Wrong wording

In my original posting, I meant to say that they might overheat, not that they were experiencing the problem. I have never had any problems with my shuttle overheating, I run with 30% cp and also know how to set the needles correctly. I was just concerned with reading that the shroud was to short. Again thanks for all the replies!

Ken,

A short shroud isn't a problem; the Baron 30 and most X-Cells have shrouds that don't completely cover the head.

Where you can get in a bind is with a shroud that doesn't fit closely AROUND the head; then, the air blows past the head instead of over it.

I have a Sceadu 30 (OS32) and have not had any overheating problems so far. I fitted a Quick UK Shuttle ali. fan this weekend, just in case !, and with the vastly increased airflow from that I think the standard cooling shroud will be fine.

Hot Head

I have had no problems with overheating on my Freya but I will agree that there is a ton of room that is not channel properly. I also run a YS so that may lead to a bit cooler and more consistent temperature. If you are overheating just build up the area to channel the flow of air for effectively.

I live north of the equator where most of the time its around 90 degrees all year round. I never experienced overheating (on a OS61 WC) on a Freya.

If you are... fix your needles. Open up all needles.
