I reposted this in this forum at Syclic's suggestion as this might be where newbies look rather than int he Century forum...

--------
Just a note to people who might be browsing this forum trying to decide what heli to get.

I'm a newbie (flew many years ago but not well or long) to the hobby. FMS (free flightsim) has been very helpful, and I was hovering in various orientations and doing 8's and outside circles on my 1st gallon of fuel with the Hawk IV. Long ago I had a shuttle and it was never as stable or smooth as this.

I was thrilled to be able to fly so well with so little practice, and I went a little too far and lost track or orientation and crashed in a tree

Only the engine, electronics, tank, and frames survived (parts of the head may be ok too).

The fact that I have to mail-order parts is kind of a drag so I spent a few hours tonight re-reading reviews and posts about Cenury vs Ace products, and I come to the same conclusion I did before - the Hawk IV (or Falcon SE) seem to be better values. There were some negative comments, but for the most part I see a lot of consistent positive experiences with the century products (and mine reflects that - the crash was my fault).

While it sure would be nice to be able to get parts from my LHS, I'll put up with the delay for what seems to be a higher quality product.

Just my $0.02.
