I dont know whats the problem with my os 32,,,
i cant start it and i tried everything.
everything seems to be working, the plug is ok, the engine sucks fuel when im connecting it to the starter, there is compression, the fuel is brand new, what do u think is the problem???
i tried just about everything.
and another question : can turning the engine alot with the starter harm the clutch liner????
thanks.

Funny thing, that happened to me once. Great compression, new plug fresh fuel. Turns out it was my backplate gasket. Guess I was sucking more air than fuel. I'm sure you've checked the low mixture needle and the high! Perhaps this will give you somthing else to check.
Best of luck to you.

In an ideal setup I don't think anything touches the liner until the engines RPM engages the clutch. If your starter spins the engine that fast, I would either A: pull the engine and mount the starter or B: check the compression again.

Start from scratch:

What are your needle settings at?

Main should be at about 1 1/4 for a good starting point.

Mixture: I used to have mine in at about 3 and some change.

Sorry I can't give you an exact setting I don't have any 30 machines anymore.

Look underneath your Heli. You will see four screws on the bottom of your engine. Those four screws hold the backplate on! A lot of guys connect the ground wire for thier glow igniter here. Many strip and wrap the bare wire around one of these screws. The bare wire does not make a very good washer and the screw could eventually loosen causing an air leak. You should be able to see if the plate is wet or perhaps maybe a drip coming off one of the screws. Look closely, don't mistake it for a leaky muffler seal. You can buy a new gasket or you can make a new gasket, use silicone along with the gasket material for an ultimate seal (old road map material is great) or you can simply remove the backplate, clean off the old gasket so there is no trace of it anywhere, clean the mating surface on the engine and apply some high heat silicone to both surfaces. We have some called "Ultra Copper" over here. I believe it is a product by Loctite. Great stuff !

thanks steve

never thought of cheking it but i will check it today.
altough i never touched the backplate and never opened it but maybe one of the screws loosened by itself.
thanks.

too rich

I have been able to get my raptor with the os 32 to run great. But on occasion, I have somehow allowed too much fuel in the engine when starting, and it won't start at all! After you have tried to start it, tip it up and see if you get a bunch of fuel dripping out the exhaust. The same problem can happen if you fill up the tank to the point to drive fuel out the pressure port and into the muffler. This engine is a great engine, but seems very picky about how much fuel it wants when starting. I hope it's as easy as this, but often it's not.

i tried tightening the screws no good

and now when i think about it when i unplug the fuel line there is pressure and the fuel squirts pretty much.
can this be the problem (although it was always like that and never had problems with it till now)???
And if so what do u suggest to stop the fuel from getting to the engine by itself??
thanks

I didnt see if you have a remote glow on the heli ,but I have had trouble with that on mine a few times . I found it wasnt grounded good enough so it wouldnt get enough juice to light the plug properly

Justme, if you removed the gloplug and checked for glow with your glostarter and the headbolts are tight and the eng is getting glofuel but still wont start its a good bet the low idle is way off. Try removing the carb, look down the barrel and re-set it to factory specs it should then start right up, ive seen this happen before and it will drive ya crazy trying to adjust. Also is this a new eng or used? You want the spraybar centered in the carb barrel.

looks like you have tried about all there is to try .. I have had some problems like that but it was with a TT 36.. I tore it apart and there was a scratch on the piston liner . It still had good compression but it wouldnt run . I would look at that .. If that doesnt do it I would recheck the idol screw to see if it is turning in when you are trying to start it .and also look at the o rings on the needle valves to see if they are still good, also take a small wire and snake it through the carb needle holes . Sometimes there is some stuff that gets stuck in there and that is the only way to get it loose. If you cant make it run after all that and there are no air leaks on the back plate ,I would take it out and use it for a target .. There are better engines to run ..

If after removing the carb and re-setting the idle it still is hard to start then remove from heli, install on a test stand and adjust according, this way the idle will be setup perfectly and it will then start easly and the hi will be close as well, I ALWAYS I say ALWAYS run in all my heli engines this way and they never ever give me idle probs or any starting probs. This is the reason I hate arfs as the eng is new and not run in and can be a stinker to someone who cant hover and fly FF yet. With a run in mill its no longer a prob. Also its not that big of a deal to remove and do this with the eng, I use a 9/6 woodie on 32 size engines.
