Beginners Corner > Engine problem for a LMH 110

I have had nothing put problems with the V-max 6 engine since day 1. I spoke with the Tech Rep. to Light Machines and did everything he had told me to try. Nothing worked so they sent me a replacement engine for free and it still will not lift the helicopter of the ground. Both engines were broken in per thier recommendations. I've tried higher nitro fuel, adding and deleting washers, sealng any possible leaks from the head, flip flopped the main blades every which way but vertical, ajusting the throttle every which way but the thing just will not fly. I live in South Florida and per the Rep. at Lite Machines he say the heli should be jumpping of the ground at half throttle at these low elevatons.

Has anybody else experienced this problem with their engines and have a fix for it or is thier another engine on the market that I can replace this one with?

In the mean time I purchased a Rator 30 and it is great. Everything is running and handling smoothly but I am determind to get the LMH off the ground. Any suggestions would be appretiated.

Thanks

lmh engine problems

I to had problems with the v-max 6 at first. I call the tech rep also and went through all the same problems that you are having. To make a long story short, the problem seemed to be the clutch shoe and housing. I replaced the two parts and have had no trouble with it since
I am by no means an expert on the sport but this heli flying is to much fun... if you have any more questions about what I did let me know.

I found that the v-max 6 has to run VERY rich. By this I mean I set mine so that it was very rough at idle and only came on song just before takeoff. But when it comes on the power the bloody thing is off, up to about 25ft in a second. Its real tricky I find to control the heli with throttle only and always seem to get a messy landing. Once you get the right setting on the engine the little heli hovers not to bad. At least it gives you a good lesson in tail control !

Hope you get it fixed asap

i had the same problem, no clutch problem, I just had to play with the mixture took about 5 minutes! i believe it wanted to run richer than the manuel says. keep richening it up till she flies, 2-3 clicks at a time.

Norvel in LMH

Marketman,
These guys are telling you the truth when they say these engines like to run rich. In the LMH it wants to be so rich you think it won't clear up before it lifts off, that is the magic mixture point for these little engines. Also, just for a point of reference I am using Omega 15% plank fuel with 3 head shims. I live in Western Washington and fly on a spit of land out against the water so I am basically at sea level. My Norvel runs like a swiss watch, very reliable and starts easily.

One more thing to check on: What diameter fuel tubing are you running? If you are running the tubing from the kit or small diameter 1/2A tubing you should be good to go. If you replaced the tubing with medium diameter it will cause you problems as well.

YMMV
Good Luck, hope you get it figured out.
