e-Miniature Aircraft Furion - Razor - Ion-X > Hacker Speed Control Problem

Has anyone had a problem like this with the hacker speed control? I am running mine in normal mode with a 9Z transmitter.
Hover mode 0-80%
Idle up 1 100-75-100
Mixing from 30-60% on elevator > throttle
Mixing from 30-60% on aileron > throttle

The controller enables in normal mode with 1 beep then 5 more single beeps for normal mode. Next start to slowly move the throttle and lift the heli in the air. The speed control will continue to pick up speed until it is at 100% about 2200 rpm head speed. Any suggestions? Also I have about 50 flights on this heli.

Call Aero model and ask them about that, I'm not too sure what to think of that. It almost sounds as if the motor has changed it's Kv. Does it tend to run hotter than normal?

Hi everyone,

Wanted to give you an update on my speed controller problem. Received my new speed control from Aero Models and same motor. Put helicopter in the air and rotor head was still over speeding 2200rpm. Set new TC to 100-90-80-70-80-90-100. Rotor head dropped to an acceptable rpm, about 1900. Checked motor and speed control temp 4.0min into flight. Motor 200 degrees, Speed control 145 degrees. Will be sending both back to Aero Models. Any suggestions?

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to give an update on my speed control/Motor problem. Called Areo Model this morning and spoke with Chris in service. They had not looked at it yet but said they would get right on it. Chris Called back in just a few minutes. looks like the rotor slipped on the main shaft (Not Good). Chris stated they have had this problem on only a few Ion-X motors. So keep an eye on the motor temps and if they start to increase, you may have the same problem I did.

Skippy,

What gear ratio you have??? You are starting to lift off before the soft start finishes... chill out for a second, and it will be at the right headspeed. 2200 is the right headspeed with the stock gear ratio..too much IMO, the 55 tooth brings it down to around 1900 and that works well. There is nothing wrong with your esc!

Hi Doc,

They did have to replace my speed control, looks like the software went south. Even after they returned the new speed control, it had the same problem. Sent back to Aero Models again and they found the stator had spun on the main shaft. This would have the same effect as if you advanced the timing. Motor runs @ very high speed and pulls a lot of current. I just received the new stator and every thing woks great.

I am currently using the 55 tooth gear and it has a head speed of about 1850. The stock gear 52 tooth will run @ about 1980. If you have a 52 tooth gear and its running @ 2200 something is very wrong. Thanks for the input.

The "stator" cannott spin,..it's the magnet assembly on the rotor.

Hacker USA has also called it a "Slipped rotor disc."
