Ok, I had a newbie error and put my Raptor mains into the dirt, thats not the problem. $30.00 of parts and it should fly agian.

The problem is the old set of mains balance well, this set of woodies has the lengthwise CG off .5 mm, which is ok , I think.

I use a K&S balancer to balance the mains to each other. The old blades just needed a single wrap of tape to balance. This new set required three wraps, that sems like a lot, is that a lot or should I add weight to the light blade some other way.

Thanks for any help

Yea,,, you be careful with Ace main blades, I know a guy that bought 3 sets of them, 1 set was cracked out of the box, another set had extra holes in them and one blade from the 3rd set was warped bad,,, and to top it all off, the guy from Ace (who's name I do know) told me to use there wooden main blades for hovering only, do not use them for FF,,, (to quote) "" you should not be using the Raptor's wood blades for FF"" (end quote)..

Checked both, replacing the spindle shaft.

Just at the hovering phase now, so the woodies should be ok for that?

Good woodies...

Weedhopter,

You might consider buying some 550mm Aerotech wood blades from Helicopter World. These are supposed to be very well built woodies and you can get a pair for $20 or three pair for $54. The part numbers are CN2322 and CN2322B3 respectively.

Wasp,

When the Ace rep told you that he recommends using the Raptor blades for hovering only and never for forward flight I'd say that means they're probably junk. He might as well have said that he wouldn't use them to play fetch with his dog. I'd buy the Aerotechs since they will take you into FFF and beyond.

Good luck,

Mike

It is a 12.5 mm root as it is slightly too thick to use with the metal blade grips. Just FYI.
