Kyosho Caliber 30 & 60 - Concept - Nexus > Nexus wobble check this part out

Had wobble on my Nexus checked everything was fine then checked rotor head it would shake back and fourth when you held body and rocked head what I found was the pitch guide was about 1mm. smaller than the top bearing id. If you put the bearing on the top of the pitch guide it was a tight fit. I had to order two pitch guides to get one that would fit tight in the bearing. Now low head speed or high head I don't have any wobble. Could this be the cause of the wobble in so many Nexus's.

That could have something to do with it! I just increased my head speed to get rid of the wobbles. I would check my old Nexus to see but unfortunatly in is no longer with us (R.I.P). Sold what was left for parts. Kinda miss it.

This will get ride of the wobbles.

Try this link to the part that solved all wobble problems for me. It took the main shaft from 9 thou+ to less then 1 thou.4. Yes it is a little pricy for a small piece of aluminum. It does make setting the main shaft easer. It also fits the main bearing bloke tighter.

wobbles

No there was so much slop in the pitch guide fit to the bearing that you could move the main shaft back and forth almost 1/6 inch

wobble

mrNoodles--I also put the harden main shaft and spindle on from Tower aslo if you tighten the bolt for the head too tight it may distort the plastic on the shaft just snug it up

When I first started to fly my Nexus it had a slow back and forth and side to side wobble. It was kind of like a drunken sailor. After my first crash I ordered some upgrade parts to replace the plastic stuff. As I was comparing the aluminnum and plastic I could see why it wobbled.

At Tower there is a First Aid kit. It sells for $12.00. It has the mian, feathering, and fly bar in it. A while back I ordered some stainless main shafts from Ronlunds site. They were in the bargin list. He had them for $3.00 each. I bought a bunch.

The best upgrade part is the aluminum tail pitch lever. It took out so much slop in the tail, it changed the way the helicopter flew. I also have the ele and ail levers, aluminum start cone, home made tube drive, rear servo mount, the bearinged pitch slider on the main shaft, and of course FRP blades.

I have heard that lots and lots of people are having problems with the clutch on thier Nexus. I have flown and crashed mine for two years on the same clutch. I have smoke it in two different crash's, I am some were around 20 to 25 gallons of fuel and it is still the same clutch that I put togather when I got it.

Thing to look for:

Start shft is straight and the gear mesh is correct.

That the clutch shoe's are pressed down tight before the allen bolt is tightened.

The engine assembly is positioned in a straight line with the start shaft. I had to inlarge the motor mount holes to get it right.

Make sure that the plastic piece that is on the end of the start shaft is not binding inside of the clutch shoes.

I assemblled the start shaft and engine assembly on the bench just to make sure that nothing was hitting some thing else.

I did see that the plastic piece that has the pin going through it had some flash that was making a tight fit inside of the clutch assembly.
