Hi,

I am thinking about purchaseing the Olympus C8080 8 Mega pix camera. Does anyone use this camera and can anyone share with me how to controll it remotely. It dose have an IR controler so would it just be a matter of hacking that?

All the information would be of great help. Thanks

I currently have the nikon 5000, and was thinking about getting an electronic shutter for the thing, but after thinking some more, I went ahead and got the helicam solutions servo activated mount, my reasoning was if i ever went to another camera, rather "when" then I'd have an accessory that I wouldn't be able to sell to someone else. wheres the servo linkage would only need adjusting for the new camera, and the C8080 sure has my eye.

HI,

From the review i read it seems to be comeing out on top out of the other 6, 8 MegPix cameras available, The other is the Cannon PRO 1 but i still have to make up my mind, They both have a IR remote so i am hopeing that one of the OPTO switches around can be used to control it.

kima,

I've been using the Pro 1. Very happy with it! I too am wondering if there is a IR switch that is compatible? I'd like to get rid of the servo!

Here is one of the pics..

Using the 8080 here, excellent construction and metal body. Picture quality is great, I couldn't be happier. Ok, maybe if it weighed about three ounces...

Tanner,

There is an IR remote for the PRO 1 if i can remember corectly. You should try one of these you may have to hacke the IR remote, but then you will be able to zoom in out focus etc,

This is an OPTO isolated switch

Kimberley,

Thanks for the Link. I ran across this link in another post, but I had no idea what I was looking at... .... too much Nitro I guess! I will give them a call and try one out.

Thanks again for the help, and good luck shopping.
