| "Hot starts"Greg is right at what I meant by a "hot start". I have the feeling that I am not the only one that has ever fired up the starter with the transmitter in an idle-up, or -- even worse -- with the receiver not turned on. In either event, you have to hold the head, and the clutch generates heat, smoke and smell while you either get the throttle down or kill the engine by pulling the fuel line off. This kills the springiness of a clutch.
A normal start -- no matter how long -- shouldn't hurt your clutch at all. It's the prolonged slipping during a hot start that does the damage. |
