Scale Model RC Helicopters > Hirobo Schweizer 300 canopy = Century Schweizer 300 canopy?

Hi folks,

Anybody know if the Century Schweizer 300 canopy can be used on the Hirobo Schweizer 300 kit?

Also, does Century just sell the canopy/cabin individually?

I'm asking because the Century cabin looks - much - clearer than the one that comes with the Hirobo kit (slightly fogged up and distorted looking).

Thanks,

Ernest

Scweizer 300

Hi, I'm not for sure if canopy would fit or not ? Call Tech support at 408-946-7201( Helicopter World). The individual part #'s for complete parts for Scweizer conversion are CN1033-1 thru CN1033-12. Hope this helps,Ron

Century 300 body on Hirobo

Yes It does work My good friend Emiel has done it to his hirobo 300. In fact the century body is much better. It is a fiberglass construction with opening doors. I doubt a cockpit can fit in either body but the opening door really makes it easy for fueling connecting your charger or basic maintenance.. You will have to make a very slight modification to the mounting bracket under the simulated fuel tank and eliminate the vertical bracket that screws on top of the hirobo fuselage. I would say Go buy it right away. If you have any more questions on it or need photos Emiel can help he is a user of runryder and his user name is

I am trying to get him to sell it to me. If I am anoying enough maybe he will, Just to get me off his back. If you decide to sell yours let me know

century 300

Just re-read your original post yes the windows are clearer. Because the body is fiberglass and they use windows whereas the hirobo is just one big vacume formed clear plastic body. Quite frankly hirobo and century should get together and package the century body with the hirobo kit. If I cant get anybody to sell me a hirobo 300 I will get it new and ditch the hirobo body and install the century body instead.
Also Century does sell the body by itself as a kit it comes with the tail fins fuel tanks etc. It is around $100 bucks. if you need just the tanks cabin and doors just call them and tell them you had crashed one and need just those replacement parts.

hirobo300/century canopy

hey this is emile
like my buddy jim sez, it will work and looks 110% better than hirobo's canopy. the opening doors are a BIG PLUS for getting at the radio and stuff up front. it requires little modification to be fitted. thanks to being moldesd in your choice of two colors (yellow/red) painting is optional. it is listed at $129.99 and well worth it. i was lucky to get it from a buddy who bought the century hawk 300 and decided he wanted a hughes 500 instead. well for doing up a funkey fuse with a shuttle in it, we traded for the 300 body which i put on my hirobo schweitzer. i have pics of it if anyone will email me at......copterdoctor2002@aol.com. i will be happy to email pics of the hughes 300 amd much much more. also check out jrav8er"s bell 407 on his site, it is a work of art.

Thanks for the feedback folks! Really appreciate it as I'm considering getting the Hirobo kit eventually as its available locally. Will have to think seriously about getting the Century bubble now!

Has anybody tried moving the servos - out - of the cabin of the Schweizer 300? or moving it to the bottom of the kit. Am wondering whether it's even remotely possible assuming servo mounts are built externally. A technical challenge/impossibility?

Also, does anybody have the width of the Hirobo Schweizer 300 landing gear?

Thanks again.

hughes 300 gear dimensions

hey photomic!
the servos are in a spot on the schweitzer that makes it really tough for a cockpit. there isnt really any place to put them that wouldnt compromise appearance and possibly safety as well as cg problems. but as you know here in the scale world, anything is possible. as for the landing gear, the width from skid across to other skid is aprox 10" the dist from the front struts to the rear struts(viewing from the side) is 8" (the skid tubes themselves can be any length really)and the hieght of the gear from the skid/ground level to the bottom of the mechanics frames is about 3". dont know if u r aware but the hirobo schweitzer's gear has the spring struts in em and works just like the fullsize. looks really cool picking it up into a hover and seeing the weight of the hellicopter coming off the struts. reakky cool. all my wheeled models have functioning struts that are home made. they include 2x bell 222s, an agusta109, an ah-64 apache, a rah-66 comanche and an unfinished scrached built eh-101.......all 30 size..........see ya!!

Hi Emile,

Thanks for the info!

Looks like a custom built frame may be necessary.

Does the century bubble cabin have the cutout on top like the hirobo bubble cabin?

By the way, you can post your pictures on runryder too. Would save a bit on your email volume.

Thanks again,

Ernest
