| One more time-the THHW(hope I got that right) is a TG qualifier because it's an AMA-sanctioned event and the TG rules require that a potential TG entrant enter and complete an AMA-sanctioned event. It doesn't have to be identical to TG, it doesn't have to be 518, heck-it doesn't even have to be a scale meet. The pilot can even place dead last-but he/she MUST complete the entire meet.
The whole point is to assure the TG CD that the folks he's inviting can build TG-quality scalers AND can fly under the rigors of competitive events flown in front of a crowd. That info is all included in the resume that a TG-hopeful submits to the TG CD.
The THHW is a qualifier simply because they have met that requirement. That's how TG is set up, that's how the qualification is set up. They're FINE!!! Nigel et all have done it right from the way it looks to me. If you have a doubt, ask them to post a sanction number here. If they do, the event is sanctioned and it's a qualifier.
One other thing, and this is an easy one. If you're going to compete in an event with an eye to requesting a TG invite, you'll need a copy of the participants' list that you signed when you registered. The CD will have it and should be able to mail you a copy when he catches his breath after the meet.
Thanks, now go to Texas and have fun! Go to Darrell's in September and have a blast, come to the NATS and do it, come to IRCHA and do it, then come to TG next year and see if we've gotten any better at that one-I'm sure trying hard to get that done.
