I know it sounds cheap, but I want to try it, anyone made it, have suggestions, is it solid enough for a medium-hard landing ?
I want to use 1/2 inch tubing.

Do you have pics ?

Do's and Dont's ?

Yes...

Made up a "trainer" last night.

Let me say this it is possible, but 211.00 from Helicamsolutions is much better.

There is a gentleman in the UK that has made one and I am sure he will post with his.

I found the PVC to be a tad heavy for my liking on my Sceadu today doing some test and training. I was VERY solid even for being put together with CA and some arrow shafts last night.

It is just too ugly to take a picture of or I would post it.

Jason...a gentleman ????

Hope you weren't talking about me :-)

I used one for the Sceadu which I now use with the Joker, but it's long overdue a re-hash, and I'll be doing it shortly.

Here's a pic, I found it very solid, can take a fairly heavy landing, not too heavy, the sceadu had enough power to cope easily.

I think the mount with all my camera, downlink etc came to just under 3.5 lbs.

Here's a pic

More pics on reuest but do a search on my usernam,e and tig, you should find them all.:-)

My test rig was made out of PVC tubing. I used 1/2 inch to keep the weight down. I then had to also add 1/2 aluminum tubes over the vertical legs to reduce the flex during spool up.

It works quite well.

PVC

Anything is possible when you jsut go out and try!! mine are all electrical PVC sch 40 pipe!! the mount is isolated at every mounting point with rubber and all seems to work out great. Working on a bigger set that will hold 2 pair of 30 size floats!!

Kool... I got the stock earlier today, draw a sketch, cut here, cut there, took about 1 hour, not glued yet, but I tested it I can put all my weight (155lbs ) and it still feels solid !

Receipe:

10 foot of 1/2 inch PVC
20 T connections
2 x 45deg connection
3 pieces of foam 4 foot long
1 CPVC glue
=============
$22 CAN (approx 14$ US)

Now the hardest part is to make an ajustable aluminium camera mount...
