| Sorry but I just dont buy the "static off the T/R" theory for 1 minute! Somebody is looking for excuses to not make good on a warranty claim, and Hacker has just dropped big time in my opinion.
It is impossible to tell by looking at the damaged ESC that the cause of the ESD (electro-static discharge) was the T/R and not sloppy handling by Hacker. One problem with ESD is that is can cause "walking wounded"- parts that dont fail immediately, so the fact that it didnt fail until you used it for a few seconds proves nothing. ESD is much more of a problem before components are installed onto a PCB than after since once assembled there are usually many paths to dissipate the "zap" rather than just a single component. - Thats assuming it even is ESD!
To even confirm ESD requires removing the affected part from the ESC, removing the packaging from that component and subjecting it to microscopic analysis. I would be surprised if Hacker found it cost effective to keep the necessary etch equipment, microscope and expertise on hand.
