Scale Model RC Helicopters > Rivets lines on a 206 L4

I've decided to take the plunge and try my hand at a scale project. I'm going to be putting a Ergo 46 into a FunKey 46 Long Ranger fuse. I've found some great sites for paint schemes and have decided what I want. Now my problem is I would like to put some rivets lines on it, but since I don't have access to a real one, I really have no idea what the pattern should be. I've searched the web to try to find photos with good enough resolution that I could at least get a general idea, but am not having much luck. I'd also thought of buying a plastic model, but I can't find one of those either. So the question is, does any one know a site I could go to that would at least give me any idea in general of where they would go? Or even better some really close up pictures that I could see them. I'm not looking for exact, I just don't want to be so far off it looks bad. Thanks in advance for any help.

Check the local hobby store for models aof the 206. Make sure they are detailed enough and take the lines and rivets from it. This is what we do.

I appreciate the responses so far. Unfortunately, none of my local hobby shops has a 206 model, I've been searching on the internet to see if any body is making any and no luck. Does anyone know if there is a plastic 206 model out there? If so, who makes it?

Dr. Tim, uou are right about helispot.com, it's a great site, and the reason I decided to try I scale project. That's also where I found the paint job I am going to use. The pictures on it though usually aren't very close up. But I'm going to spend some time searching again.

Thanks.

Hello Deja_Vu,

Speaking of deja vu (no pun intended) I have a bad case of it right now!
Just a couple weeks ago I finished putting the rivets on my Care Flite helicopter below. It is a pain staking process, but it is well worth it it the end. It took The_Dave and I three weeks to complete this copter for Circumgyration.
I believe I have some pictures of the work up close, I will try to get a copy off to you in a few days.
The three helicopters listed below are all Funkey 46 Long Rangers, Angel One belongs to The_Dave, CHP belongs to CaliRaptor and Care Flite to me. All three of these machines have simulated rivets
The_Dave has a build up in the works on his site: http://www.rotorbreak.com/
It is packed with information and advice that nobody else that I know of has to offer for this kit.
Thanks to The_Dave I have a beautiful machine with terrific detail such as: the custom made low slung landing gear, rivet detail, wire cutters, a great paint scheme and an awesome flying machine!

Jet_Waynger,

I've actually got that site bookmarked and check it almost everyday for progress. You all have great looking heli's. I'd appreciate any help you can give.

Any chance you are going to be coming up to the World Class Models Fun Fly at Thanksgiving Point? I'm plan to show up on Saturday, and I'd love to see your work in person. Thanks again.

Actually!

The_Dave asks me everyday if I am going.
If I am not there Care Flite and Angel One will be on station.

Nice helis guys.

Jrav8er, thank you for your offer, but first I think I might be able to get in to take some pics of the 206L that I actually want to model. If that falls through I'll let you know.

Now for what may be a dumb question. What is the difference between a 206L and a 407? They look pretty similiar, but it seems the 407 has more power.

Thanks again to everyone for all the suggestions.

206L times two

hey all!!!
the two longrangers hovering in superfreak's pic is his and mine. that pic was taken by rob farmer who also fly with us. while we were hovering for the pics, i saw out of the corner of my eye, rob laying on his back on the ground. i thought to myself, what the @#$&* is he doing???? well after seeing the shot, i had to compliment him. the fuses are both funkey 30 size, the one in front is done up in airmed colors being flown by superfreak with a nexus inside and the one in rear is done up in alabama state troopers colors with a shuttle inside and being flown by your truly. i enjoy flying with superfreak because he feels comfy doing formation flights. we did a pretty good job at the birmingham flyin. they sure look cool flying around close to each other.
next i want to get a shot of his oh58 alpha/charlie model and my oh58delta model hovering in some trees. how about it superfreak???
you feel daring??? you know how i love hovering in trees......

Sure! I'll have to put the 58's clothes back on. I've been flying it naked (the helicopter ) I've been looping and rolling it. I plan to learn nose in hover before putting back in the body too.

I know of a perfect spot that was clear cut not long ago that is now a scale forest, trees are all about 4 to 5 feet high.

I've been sling loading with the Critical Air 206L! Even did a sling load at high speed foreward flight.....the scale action figure guy was hanging on for dear life! I swear I heard him scream
