I recently got a CP hummer, went seperates with brushless and the whole 9 yards.

During setup I got the heli in the air without adding any revo mixing per GY 401 instructions. Needless to say once it got in the air the heading hold function was working but there was way to much thrustful kick with the tail motor. So I decided to come up with one of my clever modifications

I took the stock Hummingbird's tail and combined it with the root of the original EDP 50 motor prop roots which such precision, I mean the balace and run out was perfect, so I mounted it up and flew. The tail had the same dat-gum bobble as the vid in my gallery titled "1st CP Hummer air test". I knew placing that larger hybrid tail would make the tail motor work harder but I just did not know how much.

Let me tell ya, I felt the tail motor after I was done with only 1min of hovering expecting it would be warm,. Man, that bad boy felt like PUTTING MY HAND IN FIRE So, I got my temp gauge and it read 136F. I very close to demagnetizing my motor. This was a very bad idea. So, i said to myself, i'm gonna add some revo mixing and that totally solve the bobble problem the the tail motor's originally sized prop. But it was fun constructing it so 'Its All Good'.

Here are the pics.

This was so fun

Zoom,

Tell me what you came up with for revo mixing, I also have a 401 and I have revo mixing off (with separates).

I would be surprised if the revo mixing works with the 401 while switched in the heading hold mode. All the heading hold gyros that I've ever run make it a point that no revo mixing of any kind should be used because the gyro senses the mixing and screws up the works....

If you're planning to use the gyro in "standard" mode only and not switch into heading hold, then you should be OK with the mix.....

But let us know how you make out......

Juan, check the vid in my gallery, CP air test, you'll see that i was in HH mode and no revo mixing. The tail main needs some instruction on how much speed to compensate for yaw. It seems that they was a lot of over speeding.

The revo definitely helps now even in HH mode.

Check this vid above out in my gallery, you'll see what i'm talking about, and youre right it is way too much prop for that motor.

Here is what I have so far. I took it outside for the first time today and the tail held fine in the 5-6mph wind. No bobbing at all. I did not get a chance to test Idle1 's revo mix which for now is set at all 0%. I was pleased with it performance in hovering and mild climbouts. It will take a few days to take it out and completely work it out. I'll have to do it in the wind because it is always windy here off of the coast of Galveston.

Keep in mind the amount of revo mixing needed is determined by your individual program meaning how much head speed and the pitch at that particular head speed. The more pitch angle in either direction, the more torque reaction (the tendency of the fuselage rotation in the opposite direction the main rotor spins) so my program may not work as well for you, but it should give you some idea of what I had to go threw. I also have the brushless Himax 4100 motor which is capable higher head speeds than the stock motor.

I noticed that at the EDP 50 tail motor is so strong that it was overwhelming my main motor at the lower headspeeds so you'll notice my curve of the revo mixing gradually increasing tail speed needed to counteract the main rotor's head speed as well as increasing pitch.

I hope this helps.
