Awesome video, Jeff, as usual!

Are you still using that Panasonic GS70? I tried one a few months ago and the steady shot was horrible compared to my TRV-900. I don't know if it was just my unit or they're all like that. What do you think about yours? I really liked the picture and the light weight, but it would really jitter on me.

That is by far the best aerial video I've seen. Totally made me feel like I need to take a vacation.

Thanks All!

Brad,

I'm using the PVGS-70 in auto mode.

Can you explain the jitter you encountered?
Was it interlaced jaggies? Entire frame would jitter?

side note...
I've been thinking the way to market future heli video is to initiate a low altitude angle that would be easy to capture by other means, (crane, tracks, dollies, etc...), but then continue the sequence by flying over water, climb out, or some other terrain obstacle transition that leaves the viewer saying, "how did they do that?".

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff, the entire frame would jitter. It was almost as if the steady shot wasn't working. I never pursued it, but it was probably a bad camera out of the box. I definitely do not see the problem in your video.

Very Nice!

That was a great video. Like everyone says Great Job!
We havent tried much video stuff yet. Your camera footage is excellent!
We had a pilot in central oregon who would film national parks and add music. The whole channel on tv was for him on cable. it was great!
You should check into that. A cable channel of just your video series.

Nice Job....More motivated on this end now!

Hi Jeff,

WOW, that is an awesome video. The lake is beautiful and it's quite a contrast from where I'm at. Very relaxing. Enjoyed it! Thanks.

Beautiful video! This is obviously not you first video editing project. The transitions lend real impact without shouting when changing scenes.

Hi All,

Brad,
I turned off the electric stabilization from the get go...I've heard the end result is not very good and it softens the image. However, optical stabilization might be the way to go with the pvgs200. I came across a video on the web that showed "before and after" shots from hand held which looked very effective.
I'll see if I can dig it up.

ME Corp,
I have Glacier Natl Park 30 minutes away. I am trying to get together a BOB trailer for my mtn bike to access some future locations.

Tabb,
Were you at Tri-Cities? I was there fri-sun, but the helicam never made it out of the truck from the cruddy weather.

I was surprised with the video since I've had a lower main shaft bearing that has been notchy for some time.
It's a bugger to get at, but today is a rain day...

Cheers,
Jeff

I'm sure the "significant other" loves you using the granite countertops in the kitchen to work on your heli!!!

At least it's electric...
