just curious if anyone has had difficulties out of this combo.... Both mode shifts 20-30 degrees rapidly and unpredictablly.. I know this combo usually rocks... but i just wonder about this gyro in particular..... i've tried all possible gain levels different lengths of servo arm. the kicker is i replace it with a csm 540 and 2700g and its smooth as silk.... no other changes made.... maybe i missed something....

wish it worked,Scott

Scott,
Assuming you're booting up the 401 in AVCS mode (CRITICAL), then i would expect to find that its' a gyro with a problem.

gy401 troubleshooting

after posting about the gy 401, and trying multiple solutions, it also occurred to me that the gyro sits mighty close to the brushless motor
possible electromagnetic interference.... Going to try on a fury for test sake. I dont want to judge prematurely. I have other 401 combos and 601 combos...and they are fantastic. It acted like interference very sporatic in nature..... Scott

Well,

Which heli do you fly. I have faced similar problems with my CSM400 and the 5925 hitec. An investigation took place and the conclusion:
Static Electricity. I grounded the boom of my GPH (Belt version-I had never faced such a problem with my wired GPH) with the main frame through a wire and everything is OK.

In my case the problem was appearing after 2 minutes of flying.

If your heli is a belt version and the Gyro and servos had never been participants in an accident then try to ground with a wire the boom with the mainframe or the engine.

Good Luck!!

Bad Drift Problem!?!

I was just at the Joe Nall and did some night flying. During the first tank of fuel things seemed fine. After about 3/4 of the first tank, the gyro began to act as though it was no longer in heading lock and would do a bunch of drifting around. It was quite a humid night, possibly about 90+ %, and the temp was dropping. My gyro is mounted inside my strong box, so I wasn't sure if the humidity was getting to it. I tested it out today, and it was back to it's same old wonderful self. All I can figure is that the humidity was getting to it.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks,
Mal'

Kinda the same thing

Malorie,

I have been having a similar problem with a 410/9253 setup in my 91 Fury.

After a couple of flights (usually about 8 minutes into the third flight) the gyro seems to lose its hold function, especially after a 540 to the right????????

Also, at times, there is no response what so ever from tail with a full rudder input!

Pulled it last night and will be sending it in today.

It does not really seem to be related to humidity, only on time.

???????

Well, only time when i experiencing drift on Gy401/S9253 are when the battery power is getting low. The holding power on the gyro started to deminished. So do check your battery power. cuz digital servo do drain a bit of power from your battery.
