Call Larry!

Carlos

I suggested you call Larry Bergen. That is if you bought your heli from him.

Will the 644 work? I found a place that has a 644 but hasn't seen a 643 in a while. What's the difference between a 643 and 644. The guy told me one had a choke shaft on the carb and one didn't.

It's very difficult

It's very difficult to find this carburetor 643. Dave doesn't has this, maybe Larry from Bergen, but I didn't receive the answer, and Horizonhobby said Out of stock.

I only found a Walbro 603 from Dave, but any post said that the best is 643. Where can I find a Walbro 643? I'm really hope to find this, because my 231 is waiting for break-in, and I want to feel the power in my Xcell Gasser Upgraded.............

JARED J found a 644, and I'm waiting for if anybody answer him post, and the answer is positive.

644 vs 643

It is my understanding that the 644 has the choke on the carb and the 643 does not. I have a 644.

If you get the 644 and wish to use the air cleaner (with choke ie two chokes) you will need a spacer between the air cleaner and the carb to get them to work. Otherwise they block each others movement.

So with the 644 you can just remove the choke on the air cleaner?

Remove Choke from Air Cleaner w/644.

Can't answer that question because I have not built my Bird yet. You can get the spacer through Bergen or you can eliminate the Air cleaner and use a velocity stack.

You have the engine, you can decide if you remove the choke from the air cleaner. Certainly no need for both. Hope this helps.

Here's what I have been able to find.

Horizon Hobby web site lists a WT-643 for the low low price of $87.99. Part number ZEN23152. They currently show it out of stock.

Bergen R\C has the WT-645 for only $30.00. It is supposed to be internally the same as the 643 . The difference between the 643, 644 and 645 is the primer bulb and choke. I am just not sure which carb has what extra feature.

I have emailed BH Hanson asking what he has available but I haven't got a reply yet.

Thanks, Chris.

I've got a 643 carb on a G26 in a Bergen, came from Larry. The 643 does have an internal choke.

Can you enlarge holes on 677?

From all I've read, the environmentally-oriented WT-677 injects less fuel, hence leans out, hence no power out, non-smooth midrange and so on.

Could you enlarge the jetty holes on it? I'm not familiar with the little carbies, but in the large carbs, like the ones you see on the 350 cu.in. engines, if you want more power, just put a bigger jetty. Or a carb with MORE jets (like double barrell)... etc.

Could that work? It can't be that hard to dremelize it!

Just Find a WT-603

I only found a WT-603, and I want to know, If this carburetor works like a WT-643. What is the different between 643 and 603?

Carlos

Yes, it will work fine. Payton has one on his 231, and he removed the internal choke and used JB weld over the holes where the shaft went thru the body.

That is the major difference. mounting, etc. are the same. Needle positions for running are almost the same. Let me know if you get it, and I will PM you some suggested starting settings for your engine/carb/muffler setup.
