If we were to make terrorism an unimaginably costly act to engage in, by nuking the entire country, what would that bring us? Peace? No. Just more terrorists.

Quote from one of the terrorists that took over the theater in Russia.
"We want to die for Allah more than you want to live."

For the terrorists, it would make no difference. It would only matter to the millions of innocent men, women, and children killed in the process.

Obviously, there is no other viable path than the one we are already on. We cannot ignore it but we cannot needlessly kill millions either. All we can do is the best we can. We should, however, fully commit to it, or abandon it. This is becoming our own modern-day Vietnam.

Sh!t or get off the pot.

Your statement reflects the minority of American service men & Women...Fortunatly your government is looking for people just like you !! and kick your sorry ass back to America in disgrace. I am glad we have helis in common because I'm afraid aside from that there's little else I think you can share.

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.... Dennis

We had Salam Pax on a local talk back show last night. It was very interesting to hear an Iraqi's view on the the War and the current situation. For thos who don't know who he is, he is a guy who writes a weblog to inform the rest of the world as to just what is happening and what the Iraqi people feel.

Greetings,

Just a funny info to add. Ultralight flight (paragliders, ultra and microlights) was not existed in Saudi until recently. It happened that one of the first flying club in Jeddah was managed by a friend of mine for a while.

One of their first student Yasser Bin Laden (yes, the younger brother of the evil man) and some other members of the Bin Laden family.

Guess what, all of them have US passport....(it was requested for the licenses/registration).

Regards,

Chip

How do they get a US passport unless they are US citizens?

Ya, money can do many things, and they certainly have tons of money... Bin Laden group is the biggest construction company in the Middle East - they are involved in almost every big project.

To get US citizenship (and thus, a US passport) all that is required is that you are born in the US. The Chinese from Hong Kong have (had?) been doing it for years.

Wife gets pregnant, they fly to Hawaii right before the birth and stay until the delivery. The baby now is a US citizen. Wealthy families all over the world do it, not just Saudis or Chinese.

Kind of surprising considering how evil we are as a country.

Yes but not completely true.

I have some friends who are now living back in England but who lived and worked in America for about 5 years. During that time they had two daughters who automatically gained US Citizenship. The parents however, had no right and had to keep renewing their Green Cards (nothing wrong with that).

The odd thing is that although the daughters have full US Citizenship it is not FULL as yours probably is. The notable exceptions are that if they eventually marry a non-US citizen and have children, then neither the husband nor the children have an automatic right to US Citizenship.

I also know of a number of genuine, highly educated people with very good employment prospects experience who wanted to emigrate to the US but uncountered real difficulty getting the relevant work permits and visas.

It seems that the US has "PC gone mad" like in the UK. If you are an undesirable refugee then jump to the front of the queue but if you are genuine and bringing skills, wealth and prospects then get to the back.

Cheers,

Nigel

True Nigel, the immigration laws are a little strange, but that's what happens in beauracracies that try to solve all problems through mandates or statutes. It all gets twisted up. And throw in the upheaval after 911 and you have a real mess.

The laws regarding the issue of children born and their citizenship has roots back to when we were a country of mostly immigrants. But the stipulations placed on it since are measures used to try and slow the flood of immigration and the drain on our social resources.

I understand there are major immigration problems there now with all of the Eastern Europeans trying to come into England and France. Some of my English friends are telling me of steps being taken to try and stem the flow of that westward movement of people willing to work for much less money. Have you witnessed such?
