For the terrorists, it would make no difference. It would only matter to the millions of innocent men, women, and children killed in the process.
Obviously, there is no other viable path than the one we are already on. We cannot ignore it but we cannot needlessly kill millions either. All we can do is the best we can. We should, however, fully commit to it, or abandon it. This is becoming our own modern-day Vietnam.
