I'm using a Tx from wirelessvideocameras.com
I'm not sure of the wattage, but it works plenty good for me. Very light weight too, about 2.5 ounces.

Wireless video.com system
100MW
I had there 50MW system worked great for over head stills but when doing video and the heli was more then about 250 feet away and the ant. was not facing me, I would loose the signal. The 100MW system has performed flawlessly even a distances greater than I am comfortable flying.
Thanks,
Brett Horton

I use Felsweb 2.4 GHz, 500mW, 0.3 oz weight, 5V power supply, in fact two of them.
I've heard BlackWidowAV.com has new stock of small TXs with 600mW output and 5v supply that was tested on a model for up to 5 mile range.

I'm thinking my 1.2Ghz 1W transmitter may be overkill then?

Use the Blackwidow unit..

Weve used the www.blackwidowav.com 2.4GH TX/RX 600mw system for years and love them, especially the price. About $180!
We rarely see any fuzz in our pictures using stock supplied antennas!

Save money, buy the bare bones version. You will probably be making your own plug setup anyways...

Shok,

Do you have one of these? I'd have to see one in person before I purchased. Most fade out in bright sunlight, even inside car unless it has darkened windows.

What is the real cost? How is it in bright light?

Re: the 7inch flatscreen

does it have a 12v jack? how deep is it? Is that some type of mounting system that comes with it?

yes, I'm interested... I'm still hauling around a regular portable (heavy) tv/vcr combo and I'm tired of it taking up so much space

Skok,

Have you tried this in direct sunlight yourself? How does it work, or how viewable is it? Also how is it in indirect sunlight (shade)?

I see a lot of these on ebay, but I'd like to know first hand (well, second if I'm asking you), how this would work for our application. Remember, we're not in darkened car, at most we may operate under some shade. Or the camera operator may be able to operate in a car at times.

I have only seen them in cars and there is wash with sunlight on it as with most screens. Direct sunlight is going to wash it quite a bit, but angling it slightly away increases visibility a ton

Too All..

I am not saying that your product is not good Shok, I am just going to tell you the experience that I had. I baught a 7" Color monitor for 100 bucks off ebay for "our" application. I got what I paid for.. It is a LCD high res active matrix display, BUT, I repeat BUT, it is not TFT and the image quality was not very good. Again I am not trying to down your product and I hope that is good. I am just passing info. I had to go and buy another screen that would work for my project.

The screen I bought from ebay was a Sound Storm 7.2 with all the fixens..
High Resolutoion Wide Screen Active Matrix Display but it wasn't TFT and did not have the clearity that I required. Actually it wasn't really good at all. We all get spoiled with the new screens that are sooo nice these days..

I paid about 250.00 for a newer Sound Storm 7.2 TFT I reapet again TFT!!!! High Resolutiom display. I got what I paid for.. this monitor is awsume!! Very clear and clean.. I am building a sun visor for it now so you can see it in high sun.

If you want to see my project just take a look in my gallery.

Please no hard feelings.. just want to say my something so someone doesn't go through what I did. Your monitor may have all this and be just fine.
I did use the mount BTW from the first screen I bought. The new one didn't have the mount the suited my application.
PS. You are going to pay BIG BUCKS to find an LCD monitor of any kind that will be viewable in direct sunlight.. any monitors like that are industrial applications and very expensive..

Cheers
Steve

Steve,

These are my points exactly. The correct technology makes these things usable (or not).
