I know its been said a million times before and i too was a bit skeptical but a good sim is worth every penny. Last year i got into helis as a change of pace from my fixed wing collection. by the end of last fall all i was able to do was hover for about 10 seconds tail in after crashing one heli and starting on another. So for the winter i decided to go out and get a sim to see if it would really help. i got realflight g2 and not only is it fun to use but it flys EXACTLY like the real thing. so after dinking around with the sim over the winter i decided to try the real thing. i got my heli back into the normal tail in hover but this time my knees were'nt shaking, so i gave it a quarter turn and i had a rock solid hover then nose in nothing to it!!! Next i tried forward flight (something id been dreding since i got my heli) but i flew it great and all on my first tank of the season! now im hooked on helis and after my experience i felt obligated to share with the rest of you beginers out there that there is an awsome tool out there for you to use. I know they seem spendy but they're worth every penny and give you confidence not just in the early stages of learning but also through your later manuvers. take it from me fuel and repairs are much cheaper on the sim!

I too am dreading autos, from what ive heard the sim does autos waaay too easy. someone told me to get an accurate auto you have to change the weight of the blades to a lighter wieght so it slows down quicker. then it gets real hard S**T......S**T......S**T......S**T...

Not sure about auto's being easier...when the heli lands after what would normally be a successful skidding auto all it does on G2 is wobble badly and ball up.

Can G2 even simulate a skidding auto or does it assume all ground is the same consistancy and not allow it?

Thats the only Autos I do successfully
Skidding to a stop.

I think G2 assumes all ground is smooth concrete

I do sliding autos in G2, but it doesn't go very far.

Hmmm. I've not had much success on the skidding autos. Even the straight ones that I've seen that directly compare to a real one end up with the helicopter shaking badly AFTER it's already touched down a bit then balling up.

Actually that's how my Raptor is currently acting....massive wobble right before the full spin up. Goes away and seems to fly fine, but during low blade speeds the thing almost shakes itself upside down. I'll pull the mainshaft and check it this weekend, otherwise maybe a blade is bad?

At least G2 does give you a good feel for managing the collective on the way down.
