What is the distance from the center of the servo horn,
to the hole where you mount the pushrod ?

The distance is whatever is described in the MA Spectra manual. I did not change that at all. I did change the length of the pushrod as needed.

ccm15 your rod is scratching your cowl. Not a good thing.

I know it is just rubbing the fan shroud but it will work in lol. No, I'll get it fixed soon right now I just put five flights on it this morning. Did a few loops carefully while breaking it in and on the third loop on top the engine quit... Goood thing I practiced a few autos before I did the loops.

Get the Walbro clunk

Will most likely stop quitting and coughing during flips.

I drilled my carb arm closer inwards to get the rod to stop rubbing on the shroud. Also on the servo side I moved it in closer to reduce the increased throw from the carb side. I think my arm on the servo side is 8.5mm long.

Ok, I'll get the Walbro Clunk ASAP. Going back out in a few mins to put another five to six flight on her. I found the stock white paddles are way to light. I just put on my Raptor 60 blask paddles on to try that out for now. Any suggestions on a happy medium paddle?

Definately

I've said this to everyone I've met about the Spectra. The white paddles make it too touchy and make you have to do alot of corrections to keep a solid hover. For stick bangers its not a problem as they don't fly smooth. Some people can't even fly straight and level I heard as they have the collective +/- 14 degrees and its compressed at the centers to get that pop its hard to fly without changing altitude. Try heavier ones around 28g seems to be really good. I was helping Paul with his Spectra-g in atlantic city the gathering funfly this past Friday and he got the Minair FAI paddles and they flew really nice --the last time I was helping him with it he had the white ones -- you'll see it will be much nicer when you go out now.

I flew the Raprot 60 heavy black paddles this afternoon/evening and fut another five flights on the Spectra. WOW what a difference in stability. It just sat there like the old Schluters used to. I will get some lighter paddles after I am done with the break in. For now I am enjoying the majestic stability of my new gasser.

Linkage set up

Have any of you guys noticed how the transition point seems to have almost vanished using this linkage set up.I know i am using governors, but my Millie gasser is so silky smooth now on the 231.Even the 26o in the old kalt feels completely different. They both feel like they are running a different type of carb.

I just did this conversion - can anyone give me some examples of how their throttle curves turned out?

My Normal used to be something like 12,23,34,45,65 to try and maintain about 1450 rpm. On the bench itīs now linear 0-100, but will this be the final curve?

Both my gassers are now using 0,25,50,75,100 with this set up with the linkage EXACTLY as shown in the colour diagram shown in an earlier part of this post.I found if it is slightly out it does not work so well.(The post by Toobusy)

Hi, what engine are you using, with my 260 puh i run my max R.P.M at about 10.500 and my 231 PUH at 11.500 both with governors.I must add that i am not into 3D flying though.Really i think this set up is down to your personal choice.Once i set the throttle i alter the pitch curves to give the kind of hover performance that suits me and my style,3/4 and full pitch the same.I find i have to tweak the pitch to suit the weather conditions if it varies from v.hot to very cold as it does here a lot lately. The biggset advantage i found with the improved linkage set up for me is from low stick up to the point where the governor kicks in.It nows feels seemless.

Shawmcky,

I use the 260PUH Hanson Pro.

Just did a test in the garden:

Linkage and throttle arm set up as in graphics.
Throttle curve 0, 25, 50, 75, 100%
ATV Limits +- 110%

She responds and feels a lot better so thatīs promising. A few issues:
1) Engine only starts at 38% throttle opening, so thatīll be idle. (pretty high up)

2) Headspeed just before hover (have to measure it myself) is 1550, needs to come down to 1450.

Suggestions?

/Henrik

I met Raja at delaware funfly and he suggested more heavy paddles on my spectra-g. What a difference that made. Raja has been a great help
to me getting this thing opperating. All his advice has been very helpful. I'm just learning to fly and new to gassers. I need all the help I can get. The heavy paddles work great for me.
Thanks,
Paul

Throttle linkage set up

I found this problem too.As far as the headspeed increase goes ,if you check your pitches you will probably find you are under pitched now.Increase your pitch accordingly. You will have to reset your governor,i use a GV1 on my heli and i am not familiar with your type.If you watch your throttle linkage you will see it has less overall movement at the carb end that is why the start point is higher.I set up throttle hold to give a nice idle and use that when starting.
