I have a Voyager E that I run stock...I love it.

Suggest using 8 Cell 3300 mAH NiMH batteries (Cermark, among others have them)...The stock ESC/BEC can handle the 9.6 volts and the motor does much better on the higher voltage. Brush life, however, is about 8 or 9 flights then they must be replaced...An easy job, but be sure to use the stock brushes. They're available from Horizon Hobby (Horizonhobby.com). It only takes a couple of minutes to replace the brushes, and I clean the commutator at the same time and used "canned air" to blow the dust out of the motor. I also hardwired the motor to the ESC/BEC. I also soldered all battery connectors to the appropriate wires. Should give you 7-9 minutes of flight with the 3300 mAH batteries.

It's a great machine! I also fly a Venture 30 CP and find them very compatible in transfer of learning at my level (sport, beginner)

Everything Dean said is correct. I would add a couple of additional items though.

First, do everything you can to reduce weight!! JR says that you can use standard servos and you can...but...it will add a LOT of unwanted weight to the heli. I bit the bullet right from the start and picked up a set of carbon frames which are pre cut for the Hitec HS 85 and 81 servos, The frames are lighter and stronger than stock and the HS85's are great. I went with a Hitec HS81 on the tail. I still use the same frames and servos today even though my VE is far from it's stock config. The lighter weight will give you much better performance and a noticeable increase in flight duration.

One other thing you can do for the stock motor. If you know someone who races electric RC cars and has access to a mini lathe, truing the communtator on the stock motor will greatly increase the brush life and result in more power with less heat buildup. That combined with a periodic good cleaning of the motor will make your experience with the stock system much better.

Enjoy it, I love mine !!

does anyone know if the Phasor 30\3 will fly the ve any good i have it on my eco 8 if so what pinion should i use?

If I'm not mistaken, the Phasor 30/3 only has a KV of about 1200. For the VE, you need a KV of at least 3600. The Hacker C40-8L has a KV of 3750 and a high max rpm. With the Hacker, your typical headspeed (with a 3s LiPO pack and 17t pinion) is approx 2000. The Phasor with only 1200 kv is only going to give about 600-700 rpm with the same battery and pinion. Minimum rpm for sustained controllable flight with the VE is approx 1400 and anything less is getting very close to the "wobbles".

I dont know what the gear ratio is with the ECO, but whatever it is the Phasor must be in the right KV range. The VE has a pretty high ratio (due in part to the multi stage gearing), so it takes a high KV motor to get the headspeed where it belongs. Bottom line, the difference is in the gears!!

ok just bought the voyager e with c40-8l, 16T pinion, and kontronik 55-6-18. IT has a gy401 Cf frames, pek kit and 2-10 cell 3000 nimh packs.
What else do I need to make this thing sing? With this unit preform well as is?

It'll be pretty good as is. You can install a 17 tooth pinion to get the headspeed up a bit but flight time will suffer a tad. A LiPo pack would wake it up pretty good too but I'd wait a bit and get used to it as is.

i have a friend with stock setup using 8 cell 3000 nimh what would one size smaller pinion do to his machine he wants more time and less performance since he is new and just hovering?

does a smaller pinion or larger pinion on a stock ve give longer flight times

Looking for voyager e batteries

Can someone tell me where to find at least a 7 or 8 cell 3000 mah pack or up? I'm buying a voyager and want some decent power (electric) and flight time on the stock motor.

Nothing but the best packs...

Try: www.battlepack.com . Battlepacks are simply awsome! You gotta try their GP3300 packs.
