what field gear do I need now. I have the radio, gyro, engine, and all the helicopter stuff, just not the starter and such. Could I make a starter motor. I have allot of old rc car motors around and some 6-cell 1500 ma nicads laying around, I don't even know what a helicopter's engine looks like as I have not recieved it yet, but is this possible. What else besides a start motor would I NEED?

Congrats on your new Falcon.
On Starter; I would get one of the ones that have the Battery pack attached. I had a flightline box already so I didn't get one with Batterys, but you need a good GEL cell battey if you use a starter with a power cord and clips. Glo plug ignighter; I use a sub "C" and a smaller hotshot as backup. Both rechargable. Some full "C" size igniters you can use Regular alkaline batterys whice are 1.5 volts......Nicads are 1.2 volts. (1.5 = hotter juice till dead)

How much stuff is really neccessary

I have allot of different types of equiptment and tools lying around which I could use. I read that you can make a starter with a cordless drill.

Here's what else you'll need
You'll need to go to Radio shack and get a 1 cell battery holder and a couple alligator clips and a "D" cell battery to light your glow plug.
You'll need your own tools, glue etc.
You'll need a cordless drill and a 6mm hex shaft, like a Bondhaus 6mm hex wrench (we have these)
You'll need some thin foam and rubber bands.

Would that suffice to use a drill. I have various ones, a really high speed one and two less powerful ones. How much power does the thing need to start?

Cordless drill as starter

I used a cordless drill for a long time to start my raptor, it worked great. I just chucked up the hex starter shaft and it didnt really have to turn very fast, the top speed on my drill is 1250 rpm on high and 350 rpm on low and it started fine on both speed ranges.

I got tired of lugging my field box around all the time. the d-cell battery will fire up the glow plug just fine too.

Good luck with the new copter and welcome to the hobby.
