Hi Guys,

just thought I would air an idea that came to me earlier today after flying my Voyager50 IMZ -- Why dont I electrify it.

I have a Tango 45-6 with a 3slh 30-14-32 controller lying around doing nothing ans some time soonish I should get my LiPo packs for my Pro2k conversion and since I am getting packs of 5s, 3s +2s i will be able to make up not only the 10s + 11s for the Pro2k but I could make 7 8 or 9s to use with the Tango 45-6.

I plugged the figures into KC's spreadsheet and they look very promising around 88% efficiency and I already have old logo pinions of 8,9,10,11 + 12 teeth which gives a good range of headspeeds.

I have even started looking at the main frames of the IMZ and it looks like about 6 pieces need cutting and perhaps a little added bracing to make up for the removed pieces. This should leave me with a frame that I will be ab;le to get the battery packs inside and have plenty of room for CG adjustments.

However I would like any comments suggestions.

cheers Nigel

Why don't you have a look at how Airfoil is converting their Voyagers to electric for some ideas of how to do yours. Maybe they will even sell you the parts. They're using AXI outrunners I think which have a low KV like your Tango so the conversions should be similar.

Check the Photography forum for their ad and follow the links to their web site.

Just a thought,

Mike
