roadtrip

Today, after shooting a little horse farm, my eldest son Daniel and I roadtripped 72 miles south to capture a windfarm before dark.

Self portrait:

I guess they don't grow as big in the south, these wer kinda puny beside the ones we shot last Sat.... but there was a lot of them

thanks!

I would assume the blue spot in this pic is from the sun shining directly into the lense...

Would a polarized filter or some other type of filter minimize this effect?

Hi Ethan,

With lens flare the light has already found it's way into the optics and
is causing the problem. However, with the larger zoom/tele lenses that have many elements of glass the lens flare can be trippy and add a creative abstract element to the image.

Cheers,
Jeff

hey toadster

is that your windmill?

I grew up in Iowa, lots of those around in various conditions. Lots of them here in MN too, I keep looking at them as we drive by but haven't shot one yet.

That is at my parents farm where I grew up. That windmill has been broken like that for as long as I've been alive. I am 32yrs old. There are alot of them around here too. Not all of them are broken like this one.
I played on this thing a few times. Just wanted to see how high I could go without getting too scared. I never did see anyone go above the little board platform. I can't figure out how anyone ever got above it. I assumed it was to stand on while working or doing maitanence.

found alongside the road...

I apologize for this one not being an aerial shot, it's a little on the short side for flying over , but it was too cool not to snap a pic.

Same type of windmill as seen in Toadsters post only clipped a little.

click on it for a closer look and see if you can make out the writing on the tail.
